Extreme Tornado Activity in Texas

Tractor Trailers In Dallas, Texas -  4-3-2012 -  Raw video of Tornadoes ripped through the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area Tuesday afternoon, launching tractor-trailers into the air as if they were children's toys. As a tornado spun through an industrial area in Lancaster, Texas, about 15 miles south of Dallas, it wreaked havoc on a fleet of trucks, perilously tossing them dozens of feet in the air.

Winter Storm Moves Across the Country

A heavy snowstorm that has closed highways in five states continued to move across the Southwest and Great Plains on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

Blizzard conditions left parts of Interstate 40 and Interstate 70 impassible in New Mexico, Kansas and Texas.
In northern New Mexico, all roads from Raton to the Texas and Oklahoma borders were closed, AP said. New Mexico also closed part of Interstate 25.

In Kansas, roadways were closed in the western and southwestern parts of the state,

Around Oklahoma, snow drifts up to 4 feet high made highways impassable, said Cliff White, emergency management coordinator for Cimarron County, Oklahoma.

In eastern Colorado, a prisoner and a corrections officer were killed when the driver of a van transporting nine prisoners lost control on Interstate 70, authorities said.

Thanksgiving College Football Play of the Day

A big Texas rivalry today as Texas plays at A&M.

A&M is giving the struggling Longhorns 7.5 points and I Like A&M winning by at least 10 points.  The Longhorns are 8-17 ATS in their last 25 games.  Who would've thought that.  All the more reason to take the Aggies today and give the points.

Severe Burns Send Texas Nude Sunbather to Hospital

From the "it's gotta hurt department."

A 30-year-old man who slept nude on a boat dock near Austin TX suffered second-degree burns on 40 percent of his body and was taken to the hospital by helicopter, according to Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman Warren Hassinger.

The man jumped in Lake Travis, near Mc Cormick Mountain Drive in Hudson Bend, and refused to come out of the water, Hassinger said. When the man later came out near Mile Marker 5, authorities saw the second-degree burns, which are open blisters, Hassinger said.

STAR Flight transported the man to University Medical Center Brackenridge, Hassinger said.

Don to Hit Land this Weekend

Tropical Storm Don may hit Texas this weekend.

Don, which remains a relatively weak system, still showed Thursday a landfall near Corpus Christi, with a narrowing cone of uncertainty from north of Brownsville to Matagorda Bay. The storm is not expected to become a hurricane before coming ashore sometime tonight or early Saturday, but it still could strengthen in the warm Gulf waters.

If the forecast track holds, and Don comes ashore near or to the south of Corpus Christi, we can count out getting any rain. All that changes, of course, if Don takes a slightly more northerly turn and comes inland near Matagorda Bay. If that happens, we could see anywhere from 1/2 inch to 2 inches of scattered showers.
