Fans Love Thanksgiving Day Football

The average viewership (TV+Digital) across all three games – Green Bay Packers versus Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders versus Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers versus Seattle Seahawks – was 34.1 million, the highest Thanksgiving Day average on record and surpassing the previous record of 33.6 million last year.

The total unduplicated audience across all three games was 133 million, the second-highest Thanksgiving Day total audience on record behind only last year.

The late afternoon game on CBS between the Commanders and Cowboys averaged 41.8 million viewers (TV+Digital), the second most-watched NFL regular season game on record behind only last year's Thanksgiving Day game between the Cowboys and New York Giants.

Thanksgiving Football Plays of the Day

A trio of NFL games to watch on Thanksgiving Day and some good plays. Here are my picks and there are no turkeys in the bunch.

Game 1: New England at Detroit. The Patriots are giving the Lions 7 points. In past years, this would be a no-brainer, you would take the Lions because they always played well on Turkey Day. Don't make that mistake this year. The Pats are the play, they have too much on the line to not blitz the Lions. Brady will be fine. Take the Pats big.

Game 2: New Orleans at Dallas. This is the third game of the Jason Garrett era in Dallas, and it will be his toughest test. Dallas is getting 4 points at home, and that should be enough. I see the Saints winning by a last second field goal. Dallas will cover.

Game 3: Cincinnati at New York Jets. What is going on in Cincinnati? I don't know, and it's starting to implode. The Jets are favored by 9. They play close games, but this won't be one of them The only question is whether Rex Ryan will eat before or after this night game. I guess he will eat before and after. A big feast in the Ryan household. Take the Jets in a blowout.
