Iowa State Now 3-0

A Jack Trice Stadium crowd of 55,783 — the fourth-largest in school history — came alive as the Cyclones scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and then cruised past Western Illinois 37-3.
Iowa State now stands 3-0 as the Big XII season gets underway.

Western Illinois never advanced beyond Iowa State’s 44-yard line in the first half and finished with an average of 2.7 yards per rush and a total of 75 passing yards.

The Cyclones have a week off before hosting Texas Tech in their Big 12 opener Sept. 29.

Cubs End 12-Game Losing Streak

The Cubs stopped their 12-game losing streak, getting a boost from Alfonso Soriano's go-ahead home run to beat the San Diego Padres 11-7 on Memorial Day.

The Cubs' skid was their worst since they opened the 1997 season with 14 straight losses.

With winds blowing out at 35 mph on a 90-degree afternoon and the ball was flying. There were eight home runs, including four by each team and two from San Diego's Chase Headley and a total of 17 extra-base hits.

Chicago trailed 7-6 in the sixth inning when Soriano launched a drive that landed outside the stadium on Waveland Ave.

When the final out was secured and the Cubs had their first victory since a May 14 game at St. Louis, the Wrigley Field crowd and the Cubs as a team breathed a sigh of relief.

It's temporary, the Cubs still have a long season in front of them.

Donald Driver Brings Mirror Ball Trophy to Green Bay

Green Bay Packer's wide receiver Donald Driver took home the coveted mirror ball trophy on the season finale of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

He may have wrapped up the trophy Monday night during his country-themed freestyle dance. And he and pro partner Peta Murgatroyd repeated the feat Tuesday with his shirt-free cha-cha, earning a perfect 30 from the judges and a total of 89 for the two nights.

Driver adds to the list of football players who have had success on the show.

Driver defeated Welsh opera star Katherine Jenkins, who was runner-up, and Latin actor and model William Levy to become the third football star (after Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward) to win on DWTS.

It's looking like next season's DWTS will feature stars from previous seasons.

Super Bowl XLVI Plays of the Day

Should be a close, comeptitive game today, but here's some plays I like and you might want to take a close look at today.

Giants +3  - I'm leaning towards the Giants winning the game.

Will Deion Branch score a touchdown?  Yes +175

Will Brandon Jacobs score a TD?  Yes +170

First Turnover of the game: Giants, Patriots or none?  None +700  (Worth a try)

Will the first half end in a tie?  Yes +450

Super Bowl margin of victory:  Giants by 4-6 points  +800

Good Luck!
