Limpert Tech on iHeartRadio 7/2/23 - John Azarian, Star Wars Collector, Auction

Talking with John Azarian this week about many of his one of a kind Star Wars items going to Heritage Auctions, including one of a kind props, and a bevy of entertainment artifacts.

Have a listen:

This Is the ‘Star Wars’ Auction You’re Looking For

Heritage Auctions has unleashed its blockbuster, three-day Entertainment Signature® Auction which continues through July 27-29 and features a treasure-trove of pop culture memorabilia from the collections such icons as adventure film/TV series producer-director, “The Master of Disaster”  Irwin Allen; M*A*S*H mementos from show star Alan Alda; collector John Azarian’s one-of-a-kind Star Wars props; rare Three Stooges memorabilia from a renowned collector Richard Baron Cohen, the largest selection of scarce material from the Wizard of Oz.

Heritage's The Irwin Allen Collection is comprised of more than 200 items from Allen's legacy, including significant props, models, concept art, costumes — and some of the most detailed and gorgeous storyboards to come out of Hollywood from the director behind Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space and The Towering Inferno.

Titanic, yes, but movie and TV buffs will remind you that Titanic, and all other contemporary disaster flicks and streaming shows, rest on a foundation of the great disaster-movie trend of the 1970s, which belonged to producer-director Irwin Allen.

The Star Wars props include  one of the few surviving Imperial Stormtrooper helmets from 1977's Star Wars, Stormtrooper helmet and blaster rifle, Luke's X-wing and pistol, Carrie Fisher's Snowspeeder and Phantom Menace's trio of lightsabers.

The still wildly-popular comedy film and Vaudeville legends The Three Stooges collection from Richard Baron Cohen in includes Larry Fine’s custom-made violin, a complete set of Fleet Stooges trading cards, and a Columbia Pictures signed contract by four of the Stooges.

Some specific items up for bid:

Carrie Fischer's Star Wars snow speeder mini - gifted by George Lucas to Carrie Fischer and Azarian bought it from Carrie. She gave him an autographed picture of her holding the piece.

Darth Maul’s light saber - donated by George Lucas to benefit the survivor families of 9/11.

First Order Stormtrooper helmet donated by Lucas for a charity auction

One of the few surviving Imperial helmets from 1977's Star Wars

Luke Skywalker's Stunt Blaster from 1980's The Empire Strikes Back

Arnold’s Terminator 2 ensemble with bullet-ridden jacket which was gifted by Arnold to Matt Sorum (Guns n Roses drummer), who Azarian bought it from.

Friends Central Perk mugs autographed by the cast - obtained by an NBC exec at the wrap party.
