Limpert Tech on iHeartRadio 3/19/21 - Kyle Groth, CEO of Whiskers

Rick is joined this week on ‘Tech of Sports’ by Kyle Groth, CEO of Whiskers.

Have a listen:

Whiskers’ Made-in-the-USA golf laces coordinate in style and color with the footwear and apparel brands PGA Tour players and amateur golfers’ wear. Crafted with ultra-durable poly-nylon tech weave and high-grade aglets, they are available in multiple styles, flat and oval shapes, and 30- to 45-inch lengths. Best sellers include navy and light blue, orange and white, berry and black, green and blue, and purple and pink. They also come in color palettes of college and professional sports teams.

“PGA Tour players and golfers worldwide are paying more attention to how they look. As an accent brand, Whiskers subtly adds to their unique personalities without being too loud.”

“Whiskers is reimagining a category that’s been long overlooked yet is now becoming an essential part of premium wardrobes,” says Groth. “Tour players are taking charge by personalizing and dressing up their shoes in fashionable and fun ways.”

The company plans to similarly outfit caddies, LPGA Tour players and social media influencers. Customizing laces is also on Whiskers’ roadmap.

In November, 2021 Whiskers entered the $84B annual golf economy that saw rounds climb more than 10% over 2020 with millennials – who especially relish self-expression that Whiskers laces promote – representing one of the fastest growing golf segments. Sales of golf equipment, apparel and accessories measurably rose in 2021.

In addition to golf, Whiskers designs and manufactures laces for dress and casual shoes, sneakers and boots. Overall, the company is creating a movement in becoming the world’s most iconic, inspirational, aspirational and ubiquitous premium footwear accessory.

Limpert Tech on iHeartRadio 12/11/21 - Alex Forsyth, Director of Sales & Marketing at Walt Disney World Golf Operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management

Disney and Disney Golf this week!

With Alex Forsyth. Alex is the Director of Sales and Marketing at Walt Disney World.

Have a listen:

From tee to green, Guests can follow in the footsteps of golf’s greatest legends or create a legend of their own. Walt Disney World Resort offers four golf courses and world-class facilities designed to create magical memories for players as well as groups of all sizes.

There are 54 holes of challenging golf on three 18-hole championship courses — Disney’s Lake Buena Vista, Disney’s Magnolia and Disney’s Palm golf courses — and a 9-hole family-friendly course - Disney’s Oak Trail course - that await golfers of all ages and skill levels. Spectacular fairways and immaculate greens combine with Disney’s guest service to help fulfill every golfer’s dream.

Operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, Disney Golf offers golfers everything they need to play a fun round while on vacation. The pro shops feature an impressive selection of golf merchandise such as souvenirs, logo shirts, caps and towels, as well as premium golf club rentals for men, women and juniors, plus rental golf shoes. There are also locker rooms and showers available.

Golf carts are included in the greens fee, and players are required to use golf carts at the three championship courses. Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course is primarily a walking course.

Host of the PGA TOUR’s Walt Disney World Golf Classic from 1971–2012, the championship golf courses at Walt Disney World Resort have garnered praise throughout the years and awards for superlative design, impeccable service, world-class amenities and overall playability. Here’s a closer look at each of the courses:

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

Built in 1972, this Joe Lee course stretches to 6,745 yards from the championship tees. It is a tough challenge to many, offering small, well-bunkered greens that demand accurate shot-making. This classic country club-style course winds through pastel villas, pine forests, palmettos and sparkling lakes.

The course has hosted PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour and USGA events. Guests can test their skills and fortitude at the demanding 7th hole with its challenging island green. The course is located near Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and is a par-72 course. The course also offers a driving range and practice putting green.

Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course

As one of the two original Walt Disney World Resort golf courses, Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course opened in 1971 and immediately became home to a PGA TOUR event. In true PGA TOUR style, this beautifully manicured, par-72 course has all the earmarks of a golfer’s paradise: elevated tees and greens, rolling terrain, and a very popular Mickey Mouse-shaped sand hazard on the 6th hole.

Located across from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this Joe Lee-designed course is aptly named for its more than 1,500 magnolia trees. With tee boxes ranging from 5,127 to 7,516 yards from the tips, it is the longest of the Disney golf courses.

Take private lessons from PGA and LPGA professionals that include video analysis are available at any of the four courses. Playing lessons, as well as corporate and group lessons, are also offered.
Disney’s Palm Golf Course

Built in 1971 and located near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this Joe Lee-designed course measures 6,870 yards from the back tees, 6,339 from the middle and 5,213 from the front tees.

The par-72 course is rated 4 stars by Golf Digest and was completely redesigned by Arnold Palmer Course Design in 2013 when enhancements included new green complexes, reshaped tee and new bunker designs. This 18-hole championship course features shimmering lakes, tropical sands, palm trees and sloping greens, providing plenty of challenges for novices and seasoned golfers alike.

Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course

Tucked away on a 40-acre parcel of land, this 9-hole, par-36 course provides beginners a place to learn the game and seasoned golfers a unique challenge. The family-friendly layout measures 2,913 yards (2,552 yards from the front tees) and features fairways lined with majestic oak trees.

Designed by Ron Garl, this walking course opened in 1980 and is located next to Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course.

The rolling greens of this course boast exciting challenges for more experienced golfers, as well as junior tees.

FootGolf

FootGolf is available in the afternoons at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. A combination of soccer and golf, it is played with a soccer ball and 21” diameter cups.

Brad Miller, Professional Golfer on Climbing the Ranks of Professional Golf

Happy holidays and fun to be joined by my friend, pro golfer, Brad Miller this week!

Pro golfer Brad Miller joins Rick this week.

Miller won the Forme Tour Championship this fall. He will have conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour and more options to where he can play in 2022.

Have a listen:

On the final hole of the final round of the final Forme Tour tournament of 2021, Brad Miller recovered from an errant drive, hit one of the top shots of his life after a recovery chip out and then made a five-foot par putt to seal the win at the Forme Tour Championship. It was Miller’s first PGA TOUR-affiliated Tour title.

Miller is candid and they talk about coming out of the college golf ranks and how difficult it is to make it in the world of pro golf.

Interesting talk and good luck to Brad in 2022 and beyond.

Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on ALT 105.7 and iHeartRadio 6/27/21 - Dr. Stephen Liu, FORME and Forme Tour

Dr. Stephen Liu this week, the man behind FORME and the Forme Tour.

Have a listen:

FORME is a transformative solution to daily posture training and lifestyle improvement and Dr. Liu. Additionally, Forme has created the PGA Tour sanctioned Forme Tour to help disadvantaged, minority and Canadian players boost their careers. The top 5 point earners are exempt into the Korn Ferry Tour so a good opportunity for a bunch of golfers who need it.

With athletes in mind, Forme, founded by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Liu, created the Core Tee and sports bra designed to correct and train alignment of the spine/neck/shoulder/hip and increase joint movement, reduce injuries, boost recovery and provide better breathing for increased oxygenation intake. It is a sports and lifestyle wearable therapeutic. While Whoop is a wearable, it is purely a diagnostic; Forme is a wearable therapeutic.

The Forme shirt instantly pulls your shoulders down and back, correcting posture and stance for optimal form, comfort and breathing. You don’t have to do anything but put it on. No stretching, no exercising, no charging. Forme trains and nurtures your body’s alignment, giving you posture that allows you to perform, think and live at your highest level while enhancing the fundamental basics of your biomechanics so that you can make the most use of your body.

It quickly became a hit with U.S. Olympic teams, NBA, MLB, and NHL athletes and both the men’s and women’s U.S. national rugby teams. Now dozens of PGA pros, their caddies and trainers are using it including Harold Varner III, Ben Han, Jared Wolfe (exempt on the PGA tour in 2022), Rohan Ramnath and Adam Scott’s caddie John Limonti and leading trainers and instructors. Images of HV3, (including one of him stretching with Forme under his Nike gear) Ben and John are attached. Data from Sheldon Roberts, HV3’s trainer, showing improvement from his clients are also attached.

While created for athletes, Forme has benefits for non-athletes as well as 70% of the population sits at least 6 hours a day in front of a computer or TV or traveling on a plane. Bad posture has become public enemy #1 for both golfers and non-golfers. The shirt is designed as a natural and sustainable solution for anyone with back and neck issues as the wearable therapeutic naturally trains your muscles to always be in correct posture. “I wear the shirt when I’m flying from event to event and when I am training. Sometimes I even sleep in it. The biggest difference I see in my body is good posture from wearing the shirt”-HV3.

Great to talk with Dr. Liu.
