Week 7: NFL Play of the Week

The Denver Broncos

The Broncos are at home playing the Raiders.  They are only giving 7.5 to the hated Raiders so the Broncos are an easy play.

Both teams are 2-4, but don't let that fool you.  Remember the Raiders have Jason Campbell at QB and the Broncos have Kyle Orton.  Denver is 11-4 SU in its last 15 games when playing at home against Oakland.  The Broncos 24-6.

A bonus over/under play has to the be in the New England/San Dieo tilt.  The total is 48, and I like the under.

10/23/10 College Football Play of the Week

The Texas Longhorns

As an Iowa State grad, I hate to make this pick, but it makes sense.  Texas has been a bit erratic this season, but this is a game they can dominate.  Iowa State is is a funk, they were blown out by Utah two weeks ago and were drilled by Oklahoma 52-0 last week.

Texas is giving the Cyclones 21, and it is not enough.  Take the Longhorns in this one.

A bonus pick has to be LSU.

They are getting 5.5 at Auburn.  With LSU anything can and usually will happen.  They might be able to beat Auburn outright. If nothing else, if you put some $ on LSU it will be fun to watch.

Fantasy Football Alert: Colt's Dallas Clark Out For the Season

Some fantasy football owners are crying and some are rejoicing.

Indianapolis Colts tight end Dallas Clark has been placed on injured reserve with a hand/wrist injury and is out for the season.

If you had Clark as your TE you were expecting to be without him this week, so at least most of you have a backup in place. It is so hard to replace a tight end the caliber of Clark, and those of you in contention may want to try and make a trade. Hardly anyone has even heard of his backup, Jacob Tamme, but if you have room on your roster, it might not be a bad idea to pick him up.

Peyton Manning spreads the ball around, so Tamme might come up big for you one week.

The NFL Goes With Fines This Time

The NFL will immediately begin suspending players for dangerous and flagrant hits that violate rules, particularly those involving helmets. Suspensions will be in place for this weekend's games, vice president of football operations Ray Anderson said Tuesday.

Fines were doled out for last Sunday's hits. Atlanta's Dunta Robinson knocked out both himself and the Eagles' DeSean Jackson; Patriots' safety Brandon Meriweather nailed Ravens tight end Todd Heap; and a pair of hits dealt out by the Steelers' James Harrison, which sidelined Browns receivers Joshua Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi.

Harrison was fined $75,000 on Tuesday but was not suspended. Meriweather and Robinson each were fined $50,000.

In past seasons, players were either fined or ejected for illegal hits. But after the series of recent flagrant tackles, several of which resulted in concussions, the NFL ramped up the punishment "for egregious and elevated hits," Anderson said.

Week 7: Fantasy Football Buy or Sell

Hope you all were on the winning end of this week.

If not, here is this week's buy or sell.

Buy:

Kevin Kolb, QB Eagles - He may not be the starter but is worth carrying on your roster. Chances are Michael Vick will get injured again and Kolb will be starting. He puts up numbers. Three touchdowns vs. Atlanta last week.

Dez Bryant. WR Cowboys - Bryant may be coming into his own. Expect him to play a ton of snaps and catch a bunch of balls the remainder of the season. He also runs back punts.

Deion Branch, WR Patriots - What year is this? Branch is back with the Pats and catches 9 balls for 98 yards and a TD. He will be a favorite target of Tom Brady.

Matthew Stafford, QB Lions - The Lions have a bye this week, but for all of you that held on to Matthew Stafford through his injury he will soon pay dividends. I think he will post a strong finish to the year.

The Rams Defense - They keep surprising everyone. If you D is having a bye week, consider picking up the Rams.

Sell:

Jason Campbell, QB Raiders - If Campbell is still your starting quarterback you are in trouble.

Tashard Choice, RB Cowboys - After showing promise last season and in the preseason, Choice has done nothing of not this year. He languishes behind Felix Jones and Marion Barber. Unless someone gets injured he's of no value.

Josh Scobee, K Jaguars - Scobee is a fine kicker and all, but how many scoring opportunities will the Jags have each game?

JerMichael Finley, TE Packers - He was have in a great season, but was just put on IR, too bad.

The Falcons Defense - They got manhandled by the Eagles on Sunday. The gave up 474 yards or total offense and it could've been worse than that. They looked uninspired and didn't play hard.

Good luck in Week 7.
