Brett Favre Watch: Will He, or Won't He? Day 5

Favre is questionable on the Vikings injury report.  What does this mean?  In 20 years of playing in the NFL, Brett Favre has been listed as questionable 42 times.  He has played everytime.  So I guess that means we can expect him to somehow get out there and gimp around New England.

Favre was on the field for drills Friday, with limited participation in practice for the first time this week. He wore a wrap on his left ankle, which has the two fractures.

Viking's Coach and Favre's bitch Brad Childress said he “probably will” wait until the last hours before kickoff to decide. He didn’t directly answer a question if he’ll base the decision on Favre’s recent rough performances or strictly on his health. Earlier this week, Childress said he won’t consider the streak when he decides.

“Can he protect himself? And what gives us the best chance to win?” Childress said in response to a question about whether he wants Favre to start.

Brett Favre Watch: Will He or Won't He? Day 4

Brett Favre has started 291 consecutive games at quarterback dating back to the 1992 season.  It is looking more and more like that streak could come to an end this weekend.

Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress is reportedly leaning toward benching Brett Favre for backup quarterback Tavaris Jackson in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

Favre is out of the walking boot he has been wearing, but hasn't practiced all week.  That doesn't mean anything, and the question people are asking now is who makes this decision?  Will it be Favre or Childress?

How must Tavaris Jackson feel right now?  A team may start a crippled old man ahead of him.  Stay tuned.

Brett Favre Watch: Will He or Won't He? Day 2

Day 2 of the Brett Favre hostage crisis.  Will he, or won't he play against New England.

Favre told reporters Wednesday he would love to play in Sunday's game but isn't sure if he will.

"I would love to be able to try and do it," Favre told reporters.

"Sunday I'm still going to have a broken foot."

He will continue to receive treatment throughout the week, and will make the trip to New England.  it may be a gametime decision by Favre and Coach Brad Childress whether he will take the field.

Favre is wearing a walking boot, will not practice Wednesday.  After being battered and beaten against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Favre currently has  two fractures in his surgically repaired left ankle.

Moss to Vikings, It Won't Make a Difference

The Sporting News says it's "Super Bowl 45 or bust" for the Minnesota Vikings. I say it's going to be bust, even with new wide receiver Randy Moss in the fold.

Moss helps them a little, but can one wideout make that much of a difference? They will still finish 8-8 at best. Why? Well for one,

The Vikings have a brutal schedule, with four games remaining against teams that are currently under .500. Their next four games are particularly challenging -- at New York, Jets, vs. Dallas Cowboys, at Green Bay Packers and at Patriots. The games against the Jets, Packers and Pats are most intriguing. After the next three games we'll be able to tell where the Vike's will finish. Randy Moss will help improve Brett Favre's attitude, at least for the moment. Lose a couple more games and Favre will be sulking. This and the fact that Moss can be distracting in the lockerroom will hurt Favre and Co. in the long run.

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Moss was becoming a distraction in New England before the Patriots traded him. This is nothing new, Moss eventually becomes a distraction wherever he is.

One final reason Moss can't get the Vikings to the promised land is he isn't as good as he once was. He appears to have lost a half-step and he may have a year or two left at a high level. The Vikings don't care about a year from now. They want to win now, and the NFC is ripe for the picking, but this trade will yield a lot of talk, but not a lot of results.
