Bill Murray: From Bushwood to Pebble Beach

Bill Murray and his partner D.A. Points won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and he didn't win a pair of socks.

Actor Bill Murray has sure come a long way from his days portraying the slobby and lovable groundskeeper Carl Spackler at Bushwood C.C. in "Caddyshack."

Murray's victory was the second time he has won a pro-am on the Monterey Peninsula. The first was on the Champions Tour with longtime partner and friend, Scott Simpson.

Murray's victory gave him a much-needed golf confidence-boost. "I'm thinking of turning pro," the former "Saturday Night Live" star told the Associated Press. "I probably won't. It's really nice to play with a gentleman. He's a good person. He's from Illinois. He's Lincoln-esque in stature and unfailingly polite."

I wonder if during his round, Murray refected on the Dalai Lama?

"Big hitter, the Lama", he may have remembered.

RIP Dr. Beeper

Caddyshack actor Dan Resin has died at the age of 79.

The star, best known for his role as Mr. Beeper in the 1980 comedy film, passed away on Friday in Oakland, New Jersey after suffering complications from Parkinson's disease.

Resin began his career on Broadway in the 1950s, with roles in productions such as My Fair Lady and Once Upon a Mattress.

He later stepped offstage and in front of the camera and starred in commercials and TV shows, as well as films including Wise Guys, The Sunshine Boys and The Private Files of J. Edgar Hoover.

He is best remembered for his role opposite Chevy Chase and Bill Murray in Caddyshack.

Resin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret, and three daughters, according to Variety.com.

Memorable Dr. Beeper quotes from Caddyshck:

Dr. Beeper: I thought you'd be the man to beat this year.
Ty Webb: I guess you'll just have to keep beating yourself.

Judge Smails: Oh Dr. Beeper, Bishop Pickering this is my niece Lacey Underall. Lacey's mother sent her to us for the summer.
Dr. Beeper: Must be a nice change from dreary old Manhattan.
Lacey Underall: Yes I was really getting tired of having fun all the time.

Dr. Beeper: We're about to tee off now...

...so call the hospital...

...and move my appointment
with Mrs. Bellows back    minutes.

Just snake a tube down her nose
and I'll be there...
...in four or five hours. Testing now.
