adidas Golf Locking up Players

Dustin Johnson has been an adidas guy, and he will now be into the future.

adidas Golf and Dustin Johnson today announced a new multi-year apparel and footwear deal.  2017 will mark the company’s tenth year collaborating with the 2016 PGA of America Player of the Year Award and Vardon Trophy recipient, 2016 US Open Champion, Top American and #2 Player in the World.

adidas footwear and apparel are designed to optimize an athlete’s performance. In golf, the most important measure of performance is speed, which translates to distance and Johnson’s jaw dropping drives have him hunting for titles every week. adidas Golf apparel frees Johnson’s 6’4” frame to produce his Tour-leading distance, while his use of TOUR360 BOOST shoes have helped catapult adidas Golf footwear to the #2 market share* position.

“DJ’s scoring and legendary ball striking draw huge galleries and substantial television exposure, which are critical to the promotion of our apparel and footwear. We believe his US Open Championship is the first of many Majors to come, which will make him an even bigger star. He is the perfect athlete for our team to test innovative product solutions and his feedback will continue to influence our design decisions.”
Jeff Lienhart, Executive Vice President of adidas Golf

“adidas Golf is more than a sponsor.  They have been with me since the start of my career; we’ve collaborated, created and celebrated together. I’m grateful for the support adidas Golf has given me and look forward to seeing what we can do together moving forward.”

Fantasy Golf: Buy, Sell, or Hold for the PGA Championship

The final major of 2011 will be getting underway this week and that means it is also an important week for fantasy golf players.

Hopefully you have some starts left for some of the players you think will fare well on the tough track at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

The weather will be hot and sticky and that may be an advantage to many of the golfers that have been playing events in th U.S. where it has been extremely hot all summer.

David Toms won here the last time the PGA Championship was at the Atlanta Athletic Club.  He was accurate and didn't make mistakes down the stretch as he took the title.

Here's a quick buy, sell, or hold.

Buy:

Dustin Johnson (A) - He he poised to win a major?

Nick Watney (A) - He's lurking in the rough, and if he starts well, he's a good closer.

Steve Stricker (B) - A must play.  He'll be around on the weekend.

Charl Schwartzel (B) - Didn't have a good Bridgestone, but he's The Masters champ.

Y.E. Yang (B) - I think this could be a good course for Yang.

Rory McIlroy (C) - You have to take him as a C pick.

Gary Woodland (C) - He should have a good week.

Zach Johnson (C) - Plays well in Georgia, but is that enough for him this week?

Sell:

Jonathan Byrd (A)

Angel Cabrera (B) - Hasn't made a cut since early June.

Anthony Kim (C) - He's good one week, bad the next.  Which Anthony Kim will show up in Atlanta?

Hold:

David Toms (B) - Can the 2001 champ do it again at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

A "Major" Opportunity for Dustin Johnson

It's Sunday at a major and Dustin Johnson has another shot at a major title, this time with the British Open.

In tough Saurday conditions, Johnson posted his second straight 2-under 68, leaving him one stroke off the pace set by Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke.

You'll remember that Johnson fell apart at last year's U.S. Open. Then, a much-debated penalty on the 72nd hole cost him a spot in the playoff at the PGA Championship.

Johnson, one of the best ball strikers on the PGA Tour has found his putting stroke in Sandwich, England is all about bouncing back and moving foreward.  That is what he has done this week.

Johnson told Sky Sports in England last night: "I'm going to be pretty comfortable out there tomorrow because I know what to expect, I know how to approach it and what I do in those situations."

Going through what Johnson has gone through makes him the favorite today to win this.

I think he gets the job done.

Fantasy Golf Buy, Sell, or Hold for the HP Byron Nelson Championship

Listen!

The PGA Tour moves across the Metroplex to Irving, TX for the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

A good field featuring Dustin Johnson, K.J. Choi, Ben Crane and defending Champion Jason Day will all be ready for the tournament rounds, Thursday at the TPC- Las Colinas.

The U.S. Open is coming fast and the players are adjusting their schedules to be as ready as they can for the next major of 2011.

Here is this week's buy, sell, and hold.

Buy:

Nick Watney (A) - Only one missed cut all year.  His game should be ok for this course.

Rory Sabbatini (A) - He's playing like a man possessed.  Don't bet against him this week.

John Senden (B) - The Aussie missed the cut here last year, but he's coming off a good performance at Colonial.  He's about due for a win.

Jeff Overton (B) - Overton finished T-2 here last year.  His game likes the hot conditions that are expected this week.

Blake Adams (B) - You may not be all that familiar with the name, but Adams is an Oklahoma boy who likes playing in Texas.  Finished T-2 here last year.

Sergio Garcia (C) - Sergio needs a good finish and now.

Scott Verplank (C) - A great C-level play this week.  Verplank is a Texas boy, who played college golf in Oklahoma.  He'll be a threat this week.  He finished T-5 last year and his game is solid right now.

Sell:

Michael Sim (A) - Were back to putting Michael Sim as the sell for the A-level picks.

Derek Lamely (B) - See above for Derek Lamely

Garth Mulroy (C) - Hey, Garth Mulroy is in the field this week.  Don't pick him.  Party on, Garth!

Hold:

Dustin Johnson (A) - After a blazing start to the 2011 season, Johnson has cooled off.  Some think he may catch fire again this week.

Don't forget to listen to the AudioBoo for the "flyer" of the week.
