Dancing With the Stars: 200th Show Extravaganza

It's old home week on DWTS.

To celebrate theDancing with the Stars' 200th episode on Monday, the show will have a host of special guest celebrities on hand to lead dance teams and to judge. And, as is so often the case when it comes to reunion shows, expect the old to mix with the new.

Some of the former contestants brought back will serve as judges tonight.  It appears each guest judge will see one of their own performances recreated on the DWTS dance floor. This season's competitors must both recreate and update the old dances to meet the approval of the regular judges and the dance's originator.

The dancers this week will compete in a team competition, in addition to their individual dances. Each team will perform together, led by team captains Apolo Anton Ohno and Kristi Yamaguchi.  Look for former professional athletes Rick Fox and Kurt Warner do well in the team competition.  High drama on DWTS.

Dancing With the Stars Rock Week: Live Blog

Last week's TV theme songs are a distant memory at this point. The couples this week will be rocking out to two different dances. It's Rock Week on Dancing With the Stars.

The show began this week by recapping some of the best dances from past seasons.

The top dance from the past was the free style Cheryl and Drew Lachey did all the way back in season 2. Didn't think people would remember that one.

Next up Rock Week, complete with electric guitars and pyro. Should be a spectacle.

First up are Audrina and Tony. They will be doing a paso doble to "Another One Bites the Dust." I don't think Audrina will bit the dust this week with that performance. Len wants to see more from Audrina as he still thinks she has the potential to win this competition. Audrina gets three 8's for a 24 total.

Up next Kyle and Lacey. Kyle had the lowest score last week, but he was saved by the fan's voting. He has to improve this week to stay on the show. This week Kyle dances a tango. it was a good dance and an improvement over last week. A 23 for Kyle this week.

Next onto Jennifer and Derek. Derek actually has a tough job with Jennifer preparing some of these dances. She has had a previous neck injury, and that can come into play with some of the difficult dances. Jennifer did get a little wild with this rough dance. She is trying to do too much and it is hurting her dancing. A disappointing 20 for Jennifer.

Rick and Cheryl are in a tough spot now. Should they stay conservative, or try and push it up a notch? They attempted a tough routine and came through ok. Rick does a good job keeping up with Cheryl. The couple gets a 24.

This is a huge dance for Bristol and Mark. The judges have been begging Bristol to take chances. So far she has been as conservative as her Mother, but she has a tango this week. She did great, much improvement and lots of praise for Bristol. A 23 for Bristol.

I'm excited to see what Kurt Warner has planned this week. He was good last week, but i think he can be even better. The judges called the routine "awkward", but the audience disagreed. A low score of 18 for Kurt and Anna.

Last up before the dance marathon are Maks and Brandy. Brandy was almost perfect last week, and this week it was great again. Bruno compared Brandy to Tina Turner. The pair gets a 26.

The final segment of the show featured the first dance marathon of the season.  Maks and Brandy capped off a great night by winning the dance marathon and 10 points.

It doesn't look good for Kurt Warner heading into tomorrow night.

Dancing With the Stars: TV Theme Week (Live Blog)

This should be fun. The couples this week get to perform to TV theme songs. We all have out favorite TV themes, and we'll be able to see how the pros choreograph these routines.

Last week everybody was a bit nervous with the new stage and the acoustic music, this week should be the exact opposite as it is about having fun this week and showing off your moves.

Last week we lost The Situation and his unconventional dancing. I think both The Sitch and Karina saw the writing on the wall and realized he wasn't the level of the other competitors. This week Bristol, Brandy, and Florence will be on notice and they all need to give a strong performance.

Jennifer and Audrina have kind of seperated themselves from the rest, so the pressure is on them as well to perform well each and every week.

The show tonight promises drama, magic, unpredictable behavior. We'll see how they deliver on that.

It's the first time they have ever tried a TV theme week, and Brandy and Maks will kick it off.

Brandy really needs to wow the judges at this point. They are dancing to the Friends theme, a good song to get a good score on. They get to do a quickstep this week, and Maks is a good teacher of the quickstep. It was a great effort and a perfect way to start the show. The judges liked it and Brandy seemed pleased with her effort as well. The scores were all 9's for 27 out of 30.

It's no surprise Florence Henderson was going to dance to The Brady Bunch theme. Corky and Florence work well together. It's a tough song to dance to, but it's a timeless classic. Carrie Ann liked it, but Bruno thought it went off in the middle. Florence has some dancing talent and she was rewarded with a 21.

Kurt Warner is Bewitched, or at least he danced to the theme song. Kurt and Anna used the whole ballroom for their routine. Kurt was very light on his feet and made it look easy. A great performance earns Kurt and Anna a 24.

The Hills' star Audrina will dance to The Hill's theme. She and Tony will dance a Rumba. To me the dance was a little slow and out of sorts. The judges, who know more than me liked it more than I did. Audrina receives a 23.

Next on is Kyle and Lacey. They are dancing to the theme from Charlie's Angels. Their routine had a retro feel to it. A nice and interesting routine. Bruno called it a "disco foxtrot." Len said it was bad and got worse. Mixed opinions. Kyle gets a 20.

Rick Fox and Cheryl next Rick improves a little each week, but he needs to turn it up a notch. Rick got some advice from Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson during the week. Rick was very smooth this week. Hill Street Blues suited Rick and Cheryl. Rick gets a 24.

Bristol Palin and Mark need a big performance tonight. They dances to The Monkee's theme. They actually started out in monkey costumes. It was a bit choppy, but fun. Carrie Ann actually like Bristol this week. Bristol get an 18 for her birthday.

Jennifer Grey closes out the show this week. She and Derek drew a foxtrot this week. Last week she received 10's, that will be hard to repeat this week. Despite some issues during practice this week, the duo danced to "Love and Marriage." It was good, but not as good as last week. They get a 25.

Results show tomorrow.

Dancing Pros Invade Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

As this season of Extreme Makeover continues, I'm impressed by all the guest stars and celebs they are bringing on the show.

This week, it's Dancing With the Stars.

Dancing pros, Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Tony Dovolani, Anna Trebunskaya and Chelsie Hightower all helped out this week. The gang was there to help rebuild the home where Rhex Arboleda, an unsung hometown hero, lives with his wife and five children.

Rhex started a program called Move to the Groove that encourages kids to get up and move, dance and be active," says DWTS pro Derek Hough.

"This family of seven was living in a 500-square-foot home, but they were the most positive people," Hough says. "It was wonderful to be part of that energy, to give back to someone who had given so much but had so little."

Throughout the weeklong build with Ty Pennington and his crew, Hough insisted he be allowed to "get [his] hands dirty."

"After a few hours of swinging a hammer I was quite sore, I have to admit," Hough says, laughing.

Another reat episode of Extreme Makeover.

'Skating With the Stars' Coming This Fall to ABC

Another network already tried this idea, but ABC is going to give it another go.

ABC today announced premiere dates for the Dancing with the Stars ice skating spinoff Skating with the Stars.   Skating will slide into Dancing's Monday 8-9:30 PM slot following the conclusion of the current Dancing cycle.

Skating will premiere on November 22, airing twice behind Dancing on Mondays at 9 PM before moving to 8 PM on December 6.

Figure Skating is always a great draw on television with women.  If ABC gets celebs somewhat close to what they get for Dancing, and a good host like Tom Bergeron, this show has a chance.
