Donald Driver Plans on Playing Two More Years

During Wednesday’s ESPY awards in Los Angeles, the 37-year-old wide receiver said he plans on playing two more years with the franchise he’s spent the last 13 seasons with.

“I’m going to play two more years, this one, then next year, then I’m completely done,” said Driver, a seventh-round selection in 1999.

Coming into this season, Driver restructured his contract from the $5 million he was scheduled to make to a one year, $2.3 million deal.

The new contract guaranteed Driver $1.2 million and makes it unlikely the Packers would part with him this season.

If Driver’s intention to play two more seasons with the Packers is to be realized, the organization would have to re-sign him at some point during or after this season.

In a 13-year career, Driver has 735 receptions, 10,060 receiving yards with 59 touchdowns, but amassed only 37 catches for 445 yards in 16 games last season for his lowest statistical production since 2001.

From Growing Up in a Family of Packer Fans to Becoming a Viking Cheerleader

Is there nothing sacred anymore?

A Wisconsin Rapids native can add professional cheerleader to her resume, but it's not for the Packers. If you look at the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders roster, one brunette, listed as "Chelsea J." might look familiar to those in Wisconsin.

It appears Chelsea attended elementary school and seventh-grade at East Junior High in Wisconsin Rapids and still has family living there.

She may have gone to the University of Minnesota, but did she leave relatives that are Packer fans back in the Cheese State?

Chelsea is one of 11 rookies on the 35-member squad and attends three, 31/2-hour practice sessions a week.

She holds degrees in health and wellness and child psychology, Chelsea also teaches preschool full-time for an organization providing services to homeless children and their families in Minneapolis.

And, with much of her family residing in Wisconsin Rapids, she was asked THE QUESTION...
Packers or Vikings?

"I think the bottom line is they were proud I was going to be an NFL cheerleader," Chelsea said democratically.

Packers Pick USC's Perry for Defense

Nick Perry will be joining a former USC teammate in Green Bay.  That former teammate would be on Clay Matthews.

Perry got to know Matthews as a freshman at USC and is looking forward to the reunion.

The Packers made a move to boost their pass rush in Thursday’s first round of the NFL draft, taking Perry with the No. 28 overall pick. At 6-2 and 271 pounds, Perry will play outside linebacker in the Packers’ 3-4 scheme. That could make him a complement to fellow former Trojan Matthews, something the team has lacked in recent seasons.

Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers said being able to get pass rush pressure from both sides is critical.

“It means a great deal,” Capers said. “I think the basis of our defense starts with being able to threaten offenses from both sides. You see us do a lot of things with our inside linebackers and a lot of their success is based on the type of threat that you have, I think, from both sides of your defense.”

Perry had 21.5 career sacks in three seasons.  Half of that total next season in Green Bay would be a big help.

Driver to Paso on 'Rock Week'

It's "Rock Week" and Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd say they're ready to tear it up when they do the paso doble.

Literally meaning "double step" in Spanish, the lively dance is modeled after the sound, feel, and movement of a Spanish bullfight.  Driver should excel in this dance.

The duo finished last week in the upper half of the leaderboard and have improved their scores each week.

Monday's "Dancing with the Stars" airs at 8 P.M. Eastern on ABC.
