WGST's "The Sully Show" for 1/22/16 - NASCAR Media Days and Audio Products

Rick was at NASCAR Media Day in Charlotte this week checking out any new technologies that NASCAR is debuting for 2016. NASCAR has always been on the cutting edge of technology in sports especially when it comes to safety. That is safety for drivers, crew, fans, officials, etc.

When it comes to tech, the talk included an update on the "Safer Barriers" that have been installed at tracks all over the country and the "Digital Dash" that all cars will now have in 2016.

*** Next, as the year begins there is always a ton of new audio devices that debut. Many of them are seen for the first time at CES in Las Vegas.

Rick takes a look at some new products for those that demand great audio.

Have a listen to Rick and Sully:

1.    United Sciences (Based in Atlanta) and their 3D Scanner which allows an easy turn around to make custom-fit ear pieces.

United Sciences sums it up pretty good on its website, when it comes to what they do. They say, "imaging ear cavity in real-time (is) replacing traditional silicone ear-mold impressions to create custom-fit earn-worn devices in the ear capable of providing activity tracking and biometric sensing data." What they don't say, is they do it at an unbelievable price point that just about everyone can afford.

Using their handheld eFit 3-D scanner, United Sciences was taking in-ear measurements and scans for the media at CES to show how easy and painless this process now is, compared to the past. Professional in-ear headphones are no longer for professional broadcasters and rock stars, thanks to United Sciences technologies. This is a game changing technology that will hopefully soon be coming to a retail location in your neighborhood. It's really that simple and it was amazing lookers on at CES.

The duck responds to taps, twists and turns. It's designed to inspire learning through read-along books and interactive games, provide comfort at bedtime as a nightlight and entertain with sing-along adventures.
New is Edwin’s Sleepy Time app, which allows users to enjoy exclusive lullabies and white noise, along with an adjustable night light. Additionally, the team will be showcasing a preview of the temperature gauge, which measures skin surface and water temperature.

WGST's "The Sully Show" for 10/30/15 - Macon and Halloween Apps

Rick is in Macon, GA all this week once again. He is the media coordinator for the Tennis Classic of Macon, a women's professional tennis tournament- think of it as the Triple-A of the tennis circuit. It's a stone's throw away from the big tennis tours. You find young players, former college All-Americans and come veteran pros working their way up the rankings. Rick is there for all 9 days of the play and the action is taking place at the tennis center at Mercer University.

But also with Halloween here this weekend, there are a number of apps that can keep you and your family safe while trick-or-treating.

Remember that Halloween is all about having fun, but in the world we live in, one must take safety precautions. Here are some "app" ideas that AT&T is kind enough to provide.

Have a listen:

1.  iHandy Flashlight app

Download any free Flashlight app, like iHandy Flashlight app so you and your child’s device can be used as a bright light or beacon for easy navigation. The app allows some customization of the light, so users have some options.

2.   RedPanic Button App

You may also want to try the RedPanic Button app. Put to your child’s device not only for added peace-of-mind, but for the very fact that they can send out a text message with their exact coordinates that comes through on Google Maps to family members. The distress signal can also be posted on Facebook or Twitter. RedPanic offers quite a bit for a free app.

3.  AT&T's Family Map

Also, be able to track your little trick-or-treater with a location-based service, like FamilyMap from AT&T. This powerful app lets you see and track the location of your child’s device on an interactive and real-time map from your smartphone, PC or tablet.

4.   Life360

Life360 is a free app that allows users to create private groups, and communicate via group chat. It also sends notifications when members check into places and users can even set boundary limits.

If your Android phone or tablet seems boring with the same old apps, then today is a good day to give it a boost with some new apps and games. Amazon is hosting a “Scary Good Deals” sale to celebrate Halloween. There are 33 apps and games valued at over $70.

Some of the notable apps include Runtastic Pro (reg $5), Splashtop Remote Desktop (reg $5), and AVG AntiVirus Pro (reg $12). Gamers will also love the selection which includes Lego Star Wars Microfighters (reg $1), Airport Mania 2 (reg $5), and Huebrix (reg $1).

Since these apps and games are from the Amazon Appstore (not Google Play), you will need the Amazon Appstore app on your device. It’s already pre-installed on the Fire Phone as well as Fire tablets. All other Android users will need to download the Amazon App store app, which you can find here.

6.  Facebook

If you maybe have a teenager making the rounds to various friend's houses on Halloween, Facebook can be an asset if you have then "check in" at the locations they hit.

Tecnifibre's new Black Code 4S  -  Rick's Examiner article -
http://www.examiner.com/article/tecnifibre-s-new-black-code-4s-again-proves-string-is-the-thing

The Black Code 4S is a four-sided string. The first Black Code was a five-sided offering. This means more spin than any other Tecnifibre string and I didn't notice or have any issue with losing control.

Speed - I was able to generate more speed to go along with the extra spin. I felt comfortable off both wings on the ground and felt better about most defensive shots I had to hit. My playing partner said he felt more power off the ground and on the serve.

WGST's "The Sully Show" for 7/10/15 - Rick and His Ford F150 Review

Rick and Sully talk about the new Ford F150 Platinum truck

The Ford F150  - The hottest vehicle in Atlanta  -  Rick's been driving it for the past week

Have a listen:

Following the debut of the all new F-150 a little more than a year ago, many speculated whether consumers would embrace an all aluminum body truck. After all, the F-150 has been America’s number one selling vehicle for more than three decades and the company was certainly taking a risk altering the formula that had brought such sustained sales success.

However, the early results are in and it’s clear the launch has been an extraordinary success. In more than 20 key regions representing all corners of the United States, sales of the F-Series trucks in the first three months of 2015 exceeded totals from the same period the year prior, including Atlanta where we saw an increase of 21.30% this year compared to the same time last year.

The F150 Platinum is high tech on the outside and on the inside.

1.  Much of this technology is used for safety... Ford F-150 has the most available driver-assist technology in the large light-duty pickup segment.

a.  Class-exclusive 360-degree camera with split-view display: Available 360-degree camera with split-view display uses four exterior cameras to give the driver a bird’s-eye view of up to seven feet surrounding the F-150 to assist in parking, maneuvering in tight spots and navigating narrow roads and trails at low speeds.  The camera is really amazing.  It's like having an HDTV right on the dash

b.  Lane-keeping system: Available lane keeping is designed to help prevent a driver from drifting outside of the intended driving lane. The system automatically detects the left- or right-hand road lane markings using a camera mounted between the windshield and interior rearview mirror. A vibration in the steering wheel is used to alert the driver. The system can also provide steering torque to help guide the vehicle back into the lane if needed.

2. Ford Collaborates with Silicon Valley Innovation Ecosystem on Autonomous Vehicles, 3D Printing, Wearable Technology

a.      Ford announces it is working with Silicon Valley-based 3D-printing firm Carbon3D to quickly produce high-quality automotive-grade parts

b.      Ford kicks off wearable technology development with MyFord® Mobile app extension – coming soon to smartwatches including Android Wear – providing customers the ability to check vehicle driving range, battery charge and more for their plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle quickly from their wrists

3.  Apps for the F150

Further with Ford – is announcing the first smartphone apps to be compatible with AppLink for SYNC 3: AccuWeather, Glympse, iHeartAuto, Pandora, Radio Disney and Spotify. AppLink is a standard feature of SYNC 3 that projects the smartphone app’s information onto the dashboard display and provides a choice of voice recognition, touch screen or steering wheel buttons for control of the app.

Ford was first to bring voice control to in-vehicle apps when AppLink launched for the first generation of SYNC in 2010. The integration is improved with SYNC 3, delivering an experience that is faster, more responsive and user-friendly. AppLink discovers compatible apps on your smartphone and projects their information, including unique graphics and branding on the touch screen display.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V__i63mDp9A

4. SYNC 3

The all-new SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system debuts this summer in North America on the 2016 Ford Escape and Fiesta. Pandora, Spotify and Glympse are among the first apps to take advantage of the new capabilities of SYNC 3; additional AppLink-enabled apps will continue to roll out as SYNC 3 becomes available this summer.

Great to have all these apps ready to go for SYNC 3

5.  Something else cool... the "automatic windshield wipers"

They only function when there is moisture or rain on the windshield.

What a great vehicle. Check out Ford and all their latest technology.
