Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on ALT 105.7 and iHeartRadio 1/10/20 - Katie Couric for Rally Health at CES

Rick is joined this week by Katie Couric.

Couric has been a television host on all Big Three television networks in the United States, and in her early career was an Assignment Editor for CNN. She worked for NBC News from 1989 to 2006, CBS News from 2006 to 2011, and ABC News from 2011 to 2014.

In addition to her television news roles, she hosted Katie, a syndicated daytime talk show produced by Disney–ABC Domestic Television from September 10, 2012, to June 9, 2014. Some of her most important notable roles include co-host of Today, anchor of the CBS Evening News, and correspondent for 60 Minutes. She also reported for nearly every television news broadcast across ABC, CBS, and NBC. Couric's 2011 book, The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives, was a New York Times best-seller.

In 2004, Couric was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.

Rick and Katie talk Rally Health, her career and the digital space.

Have a listen:

Katie Couric and Maria Menounos joined Brenda Yang, COO, Rally Health, Inc. on a panel at the CES Digital Health Summit to discuss the increasing need for digital solutions that help people better navigate through their health care journeys.

Couric and Menounos, who is a Rally Health Ambassador, shared personal stories about challenges they have faced when navigating the health care system. Couric observed, “Everywhere you look, technology is helping you find the things you want and need. It’s no surprise that it has health care in its sights.”

“Digital navigation in health care is all about getting people to where they need to be in a complex system. It’s like GPS for health care. Historically, some of this was accomplished over the phone, but increasingly, consumers expect to engage with the health care system on the web or through their mobile devices, and this is something our Rally® platform enables,” said Yang.

The interactive Rally Experience at CES was open through Friday, Jan 10, showcasing Rally solutions, which help people assess their health, pursue wellness, manage their health benefits, and when care is needed, Rally helps them navigate and engage more effectively with the health care system. People stopping by the booth can play a fun trivia game that tests their health care knowledge, and they can step into a relaxation pod for a few minutes respite from all the activity at CES.

Rally Health, Inc. is a consumer-centric digital health company that makes it easy for individuals to take charge of their health and collaborates with health plans, health care providers, and employers to engage consumers. Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on ALT 105.7 and iHeartRadio 12/28/19 - CES 2020 Preview

Rick is joined by Axel this week to talk about what they are looking forward to at CES 2020.

Have a listen:

Here's what they discussed:

1. Alexa And Google Assistant Devices and Companion Devices

Both Amazon's Alexa-powered Echo devices and Google's own devices powered by the Google Assistant had a major presence at CES 2019. But there were also plenty of third-party devices on display at the show that use one (or both) of the voice-activated smart assistants built in. You can expect CES 2020 to be no different, with interest in assistant devices showing no signs of waning. In particular, a greater number of smart assistant devices featuring displays—akin to the Amazon Echo Show or Google Nest Hub—is a pretty sure bet for the conference.

2. 5G

5G For the Mainstream: While 2020 still won’t bring consumers a 5G iPhone, that doesn’t mean that 5G won’t be a super hot topic at CES (and at Mobile World Congress in February). 2019 was a big year for 5G with Chipmakers including Qualcomm and Huawei actively announcing new platforms and with carriers around the world rolling out 5G networks including a recent T-Mobile launch in the U.S. that brought 5G to an estimated 200 Million Americans. With these networks, came new devices from a number of handset makers, most notably Samsung releasing its Note 10 5G. I believe we will be seeing a whole lot of new 5G devices at CES 2020 as the technology is now becoming more mainstream across Asia, Europe and the U.S. I also expect 5G to be a sub headline for each of the other four big trends that I’m predicting for CES 2020 as faster devices, greater data volumes and powerful content plays are all enabled by 5G.

3. Vehicles

Connected and Autonomous Vehicles: The floor of CES can look and feel a bit like the Detroit Auto Show as the next wave of vehicle technology has been a hot CES topic for more than a decade and this has been turbo charged as autonomous and electric cars have gained massive momentum and we cruise toward level 4 autonomous vehicles becoming mainstream (so many car puns).

The vehicles themselves will be on display, and no doubt there will be some cool concept vehicles full of futuristic technology. However, I think the headlines be focused on new and innovative technology announcements from chipmakers and OEMs, which will power this evolution of self-driving and smart cities powered by the massive big data created by vehicles and their drivers. Over the next few years, we will quietly see vehicle data become a bigger part of a new economy that will (with 5G) power the realization of smart cities.

4. Streaming and more streaming

Streaming Wars Pushes Content Revolution: While not a gadget at all, the past year has been an endless bout of the biggest tech giants swinging their content wares at one another as Netflix saw not only Amazon, but Apple and Disney make massive entrances into the streaming content wars. As Devices may serve as the short-term cool factor at events like CES, ultimately it is what we do on those devices that will dictate their success.

Over the next year, the packaging of devices and streaming may start to feel a little bit like the packaging of windows on the PC. Apple flashed this craze with its inclusion of Apple TV Plus with the iPhone 11. Verizon has offered Disney+ free to new subscribers and T-Mobile has done this for its customers with Netflix.

5. Apple Returns

6. Monitors and Displays

7. Kitchen smart gadgets and appliances.
