Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on ALT 105.7 and iHeartRadio 5/9/20 - Jane Birdwell, Tablevogue with Tips for a Virtual Graduation

Rick talks with Jane Birdwell of Tablevogue Fitted Table Covers.

How to Create a Great Virtual Graduation Party for Your GRAD-of-Honor?

Your graduating senior may not get to walk across the stage this year, but you can still throw them a special celebration. Jane Birdwell, creator of Tablevogue Fitted Table Covers, shares tips for hosting a festive online party for your 2020 graduate.

Virtual Graduation tips:

Send out an interactive virtual invite. Find fun ways to use color, theme, signage, and accessories to make the party invitations unique and eye-catching. The interactive element for the guests makes them feel involved and engaged.

Map out a virtual viewing space. Thoughtfully select an area of your home that will delight your viewers. It could be a pretty corner of your backyard or a bright and cheery portion of your living room or dining room. The area should be no more than 10 feet by 10 feet so guests can clearly see the décor and the people on camera. And don't forget to designate a special space for the GRAD-of-Honor.

Keep the "wow" factors simple. You can make a big, dramatic impact with simple touches.

Start with these three:

A fun dress code. Ask the guests who will be joining your video conference to wear the colors or logo gear from the college your child will be attending in the fall. If your graduate will be entering the workforce or a trade school, ask everyone to dress in accordance to your party theme, like Hawaiian shirts, famous book characters, etc.

Impactful décor. Visit www.tablevogue.com to find a fitted table cover in a matching color or print to create an instant "wow" factor and central point of focus for the GRAD-of-Honor. Further enliven the space with a creative backdrop using printed goods, wrapping paper, colorful linens, or balloons to create visual harmony and depth.

Great gifts. Request that guests send gifts in advance so the GRAD-of-Honor can open them and celebrate in real time. "We asked our family and friends to write quick notes of advice including a contribution to Venmo or a similar account," says Birdwell. "Gift cards or cash are also welcomed by most graduates. And if you like the thought of a physical gift, think anything monogrammed, including apparel and accessories with logos for the college bound. Giving your GRAD-of-Honor and guests an interactive role in the party will make the lack of physical connection virtually disappear."

Tablevogue fitted table covers are doing for folding tables what Dyson did for the vacuum. At first glance, tablecloths are an unlikely place to find game-changing innovation. But Floridian entrepreneur, Jane Birdwell, envisioned a superior design that is becoming recognized by industry leaders as a new product category, "tailored table covers."

The tablecloth has been a highly valued event item for nearly 2,000 years. Table décor coverings, known as "drapes and throws" haven't drastically changed in appearance or design since the fifteenth century – until now. Tablevogue has created an innovative product that solves several longstanding issues around tablecloth performance and design. Constructed with a patented and protected stitched corner and pleat, Tablevogue tailored, fitted table covers are made specifically to fit standard size utility folding and banquet tables without the use of clips,

Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on ALT 105.7 and iHeartRadio 8/30/19 - Tips for Buying a Budget Laptop

If money is a concern when looking to purchase a new laptop, consider these factors in this order of importance:

We are talking maybe $250-500.

Have a listen:

Full-HD (1920 x 1080) Screen: Most budget laptops are saddled with low-res, 1366 x 768 displays that allow you to fit a lot of text on the screen at once. If you can find a laptop with a screen that has a 1920 x 1080 resolution, you'll be able to see more of your favorite web pages, emails, social media feeds and documents, without scrolling. You'll also get much sharper images and videos.

SSD or eMMC Memory: Most sub-$500 laptops use mechanical hard drives, but if you can get one with a solid-state drive or eMMC storage, another form of solid-state memory, you'll speed up your  boot and application open times.

Good build quality: If you see a laptop with a soft-touch finish or real aluminum on any of its surfaces ― especially the deck and lid ―that's a sign of good design. However, in this price range, you'll likely have to settle for plastic.

Pick the right CPU: A Core i3 processor is pretty good for this price range. Intel Pentium and Celeron CPUs are serviceable, but not particularly speedy. A Chromebook generally requires less processing power than a Windows machine.

Optical Media: If you need to use CDs or DVDs, we've even found a couple of laptops with DVD drives that won't break the bank.
Your buying decision may come down to whether you need a full-fledged PC, or would prefer the simplicity of a Chromebook.

You'll want a Windows 10-based machine if there are applications  you depend upon, such as Adobe or Microsoft's suites of apps. Yes, Chrome OS machines can run the Android versions of those apps with Google Play emulation, but those apps are often incomplete, and give you a bare minimum when it comes to features.

Chromebooks will be best, though, if you live inside the Chrome browser, and prefer a system that takes care of itself. With a Chromebook, you'll never need antivirus software, and system updates are automatically performed. Chromebooks are also more web-dependent, as offline modes are still not as widely available.

Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on Radio 105.7 - Halloween Tech Safety Tips

While Halloween is an exciting time for kids, it can be a nerve-racking time for parents, with safety being their top priority. Gone are the days of turning your children loose in the neighborhood to go door-to-door without a safety plan in place.

Some tech safety tips for Halloween

Have a listen:

1.  Don't Let Kids Go Alone and Carry Flashlights

Children under the age of 12 should never be turned loose to go door-to-door without adult supervision.  It’s always best to go out in groups and stay in the neighborhoods you are most familiar with using the sidewalk and remaining on well lit streets as you navigate the neighborhood.
Kids should carry flashlights with fresh batteries or glow sticks so they are visible to cars and motorcycles.  Include reflector tape on the bottoms of shoes for added protection.

2.  RedPanicButton.com

Are you in distress? Do you feel threatened? Don’t panic!
Just push THE RED PANIC BUTTON!

The app will immediately send an SMS and an E-MAIL containing your GPS coordinates in a Google Maps link to all your emergency contacts! Get out of trouble, find your child or help others with only ONE button push on your phone screensaver!

3.  If You Need to Check Out Your Neighbors

Make sure you know the neighborhood and who lives there. You can do a quick search on BeenVerified.com to see if your new neighbors have any skeletons in their closet.

The most popular times to trick-or-treat are 5:30-9:30pm. There is safety in numbers, so it is best to stick to these times when canvasing the neighborhood.

4.  Be Mindful of Dogs and Carry Dog Treats to Make 4-legged Friends

- Dogs don't like Halloween and Halloween Costumes.

Beware of dogs you don’t know and advise kids not to pet dogs you meet along the trick-or-treat route. Dogs can be nervous around little kids, especially ones dressed like ghouls and goblins. Have someone in your group carry dog treats to make friends.

5.  Dcorate your Kids’ Costumes and Candy Bags with Reflective Tape

One type is

3M Scotchlite Reflective Tape, Silver, 1-Inch by 36-Inch
