Pictures from the 2012 USTA U.S. Open National Playoffs - Southern

With temperatures well over 100 degrees for most of the play, the winners this week really deserve any of the credit they will get.  They should also be ready for just about anything once the play shifts to New Haven in August.

Winners were Natalie Pluskota in the women's singles, Adam Lee in the men's singles and the mixed doubles team of Marcus Hurtig and Lindsay Lee-Waters.

I've put some of my shots up on Pinterest at:

Seneca Wallace's Home Movies From Kuwait

Former Iowa State Cyclone Seneca Wallace is one of the good guys.

Earlier this year, the current Cleveland Browns QB travelled to Kuwait to meet with the troops stationed there.

Thought I would post this today on the 4th of July.

Serena Takes Out Defending Champ

In a match between former Wimbldon champions, Serena Williams blasted 13 aces in a 6-3 7-5 victory and served notice that she is "in it" to win it".

Fourth seeded Petra Kvitova, tried to stay in contention but was eventually unseated in a high-quality clash which marked Serena's first match under the roof of Centre Court.

"You can't play a defending Wimbledon champion or grand slam champion and not elevate your game," Williams told reporters.

Up next for Serena, Victoria Azarekna ot Tamira Paszek.

If Serena keeps playing like this, I don't see how anyone can beat her.
