Iowa State Billboards Dig at Iowa and UNI

The Iowa State University Athletics Department announced today that it is bringing back one of the department's most popular prior marketing initiatives by unveiling a new billboard campaign throughout the month of August. The Cyclones are installing billboards in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines welcoming home new Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.

A native of Waterloo, Iowa, Bowlsby was recently hired as the new Big 12 leader.  Bowlsby served as the director of athletics at UNI and Iowa before his stint as the director of athletics at Stanford.

The campaign is part of a continuation of Iowa State's "It's a Cyclone State" billboards that were placed in Iowa in the mid-2000s and became instant lightning rods among sports fans across the state.

Tonight on "The Tech of Sports" - Paul Shirley

He's a writer, he's a former Academic All-American Division I college basketball player, he's a former NBA player.

He loves music and loves to travel.  He's 6'10" and a renassiance man with a unique perspective of what is happening around him and happening in the world.

His book, "Can I Keep My Jersey?" is a must read for sports and basketball fans along with anyone who has dreamed of playing in the NBA or on a professional basketball team.

I'm of course talking about Paul Shirley and he will be my guest tonight on "The Tech of Sports."  We may talk some basketball, we may talk some tech, but we'll talk other things as well.

His book would make a great Father's Day gift.

Come by tonight at http://netcaststudio.com/live/  at 7pm EDT to hear the wit and wisdon of Paul Shirley.  He's @paulthenshirley on Twitter.
