Week 10 NFL Play of the Day: Dallas Cowboys

Dallas hosts Buffalo today in a game where I think one team might be heading up and one team may be coming back to earth.

Dallas is giving 5 pts and I like the Cowboys to win by at least a touchdown at home.

The Bills are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home.  Buffalo got trounced by the Jets last week.

The Cowboys are 6-2-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, they play well against good competition.

Take the Cowboys today and give the 5.

Bonus Pick:  I love the OVER 41.5 in the Broncos/Chiefs game today.  OVER!

'Dandy' Don Meredith Passes Away

Don Meredith, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback and Monday Night Football broadcaster, died Sunday evening in Santa Fe, N.M. He was 72.

Meredith was the original Dallas Cowboy, signing a personal services contract on Nov. 28, 1959, two months before the franchise officially gained admittance into the NFL.

Meredith was a two-time All-American at SMU and played for the Cowboys from 1960 to 1968. He led the Cowboys to the 1966 and 1967 NFL title games, both defeats to the Green Bay Packers,  but he abruptly retired from pro football at age 31.

Meredith went on to join ABC's Monday Night Football team.  Viewers waited for Meredith to sing "The Party's Over" to viewers when he determined that the game was out of reach.

His career with the Cowboys came after Meredith had been a two-time All-America quarterback at SMU. He chose the Mustangs after narrowly opting to turn down Bear Bryant's scholarship offer to attend Texas A&M.

Week 13: NFL Play of the Week

Yes, today it is the Dallas Cowboys.  Give new coach Jason Garrett a lot of credit for getting this team to play hard.  They may not be a playoff team, but they are better than the unit that was slaughtered by the Green Bay Packers a few short weeks ago.

Dallas getting 5.5 at Indy this week is a strong play.  Indy is hurting and Dallas will be ready for what the Colts throw at them.

Also, the Cowboys are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.  The Colts play well at home, but I cam see Dallas losing by a field goal as time expires, or winning the game.

College Cheerleader's Eating Disorders Caused by Uniforms they Wear, Study Says

They are doing studies on everything these days.

A new study by the  University of South Carolina has found that those cheerleaders that wear midriff-baring uniforms are at an extremely high risk of developing eating disorders.

South Carolina officials polled 136 college cheerleaders and found fully one-third feel that they have to live up to an image of how they should look in their cheerleading uniforms, and "They thought the coaches wanted them to be smaller than they actually really were. It's amazing, the impact a coach has on a cheerleader."

Can this be right?  They are cheerleaders, they choose to be.  Nobody is holding a gun to their head to make them do this.  If the pressure is too much, they need to join intramural sports or find something else to do to support their school.

The study, among other things, asked cheerleaders what they felt like in street clothes, cheering uniforms and midriff-baring uniforms. Those wearing the latter were at greater risk for body-image issues and other disorders, she found.

"Regardless of whether it was daily clothing, a full uniform or a midriff uniform, they all wanted to be smaller. But the thing that stuck out the most was they wanted to be smallest in the midriff uniform, which says a lot about the impact of a midriff."

Maybe we need to go back to cheerleading outfits of the past.

The fact that there was a study done on this, and that the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) in Memphis is looking into this shows they have too much time on their hands and they are bowing to political pressure from somebody.  I bet Nancy Pelosi and Gloria Allred are involved at some level.

There are many other sociatial pressures that are causing girls to have eating disorders.  This has been going on for a long time, maybe we need to abolish the Victoria's Secret catalog and the Miss America pageant as well.

I just thought of a great parody song Weird Al could do.  "Mamas,  Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be Cowboy's Cheerleaders."
