Hines Ward Arrested After Early Morning DUI

Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday in Georgia on a drunken driving charge, sheriff's officials said.

The Super Bowl MVP and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champ was booked into the DeKalb County jail just outside Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. He was released on $1,300 bond.

No other details were released by the county.

A Steelers spokesman did not immediately respond to a message, and it was not immediately clear if Ward had an attorney.

Since being drafted in the third round out of Georgia in 1998, the 35-year-old Ward has been a four-time Pro Bowl selection and won two Super Bowls.

Dancing with professional partner Kym Johnson, Ward in May became the second professional football player to win the "Dancing" crown after Emmitt Smith won in 2006. He bested actresses Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane to become the season 12 champion of the TV celebrity dance competition.

He was stopped by police during the time he was in L.A. with "Dancing With the Stars" while driving, but nothing came of it.

Dancing With the Stars: Hines Ward is MVP!

Last night was a night of impressive dances, but it's only fitting as one of these couples will win this season of Dancing With the Stars and the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.

We have three different dancers with three completely different styles.  It's hard for me to predict because we don't know how the fan voting is going.  Kirstie is trailing a little after the performance, but she racks in the votes.  Hines was so good las night and football players have fared well on the show in past seasons.

The finalists will actually have one more round of dancing before the results will be read.

Some big musical acts tonight, and leading off is the Black Eyed Peas and one of their new songs.  Next was a feature on the judges and their opinions on the three finalists.

The next segment highlighted some of the contestants that were eliminated earlier in the season.  From Mike Catherwood dancing with the troupe to Sugar Ray Leonard and Kendra, they were all back tonight.

Petra reprised her waltz from week 3, and it was sung by Josh Grobin.  Kendra and Louis hit the floor next dancing to a Ricky Martin song.  She ended her routine by dancing on the judge's table before almost falling off it.

Sugar Ray Leonard was one of my favorite contestants this season.  He was introduced tonight by ring announcer Michael Buffer.  Chris Jericho also was brought out on to the dance floor.  Both took the show very seriously and if not for one bad dance they might've advanced further than they did.

Next was Wendy Williams.  They did a skit where she interviewed herself.  That skit was about as good as her dancing.

The next musical guest is the Go-Go's.  Haven't seen them in a while.  They sang 'We've Got the Beat' and Chelsie Hightower, Cheryl and Lacey were joined for this routine with Maks in a policeman uniform.

Romeo and Chelsie Hightower did their final dance.  They try to find an angle for each dancer as the season progresses, and Romeo's angle was doing it for the kids.  They had a kid's chorus singing while they danced.

Ralph Macchio will be the final dancer brought back for one final dance.  He was classy and popular with the fans as he reached the semi-finals.

Finally, the three finalists will dance their final dances.

First up is Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.  They will redo their Viennese Waltz.  They showed clips from their last rehearsal last night and how emotional it was for them.  To me, it looked about the same as they last time they did it.  No surprise, the judges all liked it and complemented them.  They get a 30 for their final dance.

Kirstie and Maks are next.  No dancer has made more strides than Kirstie Alley.  They dance a cha cha cha.  A lot of improvement for Kirstie and Maks deserves a lot of credit.  Kirstie gets a 30 out of 30.

The honor of the final dance of season 12 belongs to Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.  They are looking to do a perfect Samba.  Another good dance.  No surprise here, they also get a 30.

Sara Evans sang a final song while highlights ofthe season played in the background.

One couple is about to be eliminated.  The third place contestant is Chelsea Kane.

The lights are dimmed and a champion is about to be named.

The winner is... Hines Ward and Kym Johnson!

Dancing With the Stars: Instant Dance, Instant Gratification

The remaining teams have worked hard to make it this far, but they are even going to have to work harder this week as then now are expected to perform not one, but two dances.

One of the dances will be the famous "instant dance", this is where they find out what kind of dance, and the song they will dance to, right on the spot.

I'm sure the pros have had the stars work on the basics of a dance and once they find out which dance they will do, they will add those elements in and go for it.

Two dances will mean two sets of scores.  The teams will have very little margin for error.

Here we go:

First tonight are Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas with a waltz.  Good music, nice lighting and a solid dance.  Len said that sometimes their dances are a bit theatrical, but he liked this one.  Carrie Ann thought it was a very sound dance.  They get a 29 out of 30.

Second up is Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.  Hines was on top of the leaderboard last week and he wants that spot again this week.  They do a wedding proposal theme dance to a Natalie Cole song.  It was difficult and fast paced.  He takes direction from Kym very well.  He dances much like he plays football, nothing fancy.  He does what he is supposed to do and does it well.  They get a nice 28, including a 10 from Bruno.

Next on the dance floor, Chelsie and Romeo.  Romeo has been a bit up and down.  One week good, the next he tends to take a step back.  They dance a tango that is dark and mysterious.  The judges thought it was intense and sharp.  Romeo gets a 27.

Fourth on the floor is Ralph and Karina.  Ralph is nursing an injury this week.  He has a slight knee injury, but it's not a tear.  Their dance is dark and frantic as well, kind of like a Meatloaf video.  Adrenaline helped pull Ralph through, and they get a 25.

The final individual dance of the night will be Kirstie and Maks.  Last week they were a little out of sync.  This week they get the Argentine tango.  Kirstie looks like she has improved her footwork.  A tough routine and she did well.  Len thought it was hot, and Carrie Ann thought it was her best dance.  Kirstie gets a 28.

Next up are the instant dances.

Chelsie and Mark up first with a salsa.  A little screw up to start the song as the music started early.  They seem a little off because of it, but finished strongly.  The level of difficulty was high and good choreography.  They get a 26, for a total of 55 for the night.

Instant dance #2 features Hines and Kym with a jive.  They had a lot of fun with a high energy jive.  Hines hit the beats and had some great kicks.  They made it look easy and got a 26.  A overall total of 54.

The next instant dance is Romeo and Chelsie.  Another fun dance.  Romeo was a bit off and his posture was a little lacking.  But it was entertaining and casual like a salsa should be.  They get a 25 for a 52 total.

Still smarting from his acute pain, Ralph and Karina take the floor.  Good job for the instant dance with Ralph in pain.  Karina did most of the work, but Ralph is a true performer.  They get a 21 for a total of 46.

Lastly, we have Kirstie and Maks.  Kirstie may find it hard to do the instant salsa.  She just needs to dance and not worry about everything else.  I'm not sure it was a great dance, but it was entertaining.  Good energy and good chemistry.  They get a 25 for a 53 total.

Tomorrow night Adele and Michael Bolton perform.

DWTS Results: The Walls of Jericho Come Down

Last night was a show of semi-bad music mixed with semi-good dancing.  Tonight we find out who will be the next star going home.

It could be the wrestler who lacked confidence, or might it be the former Playboy Playmate turned reality star.  Ralph Macchio and Karina had a slight fall last night, will that cost him?

Here's the results show.

More guilty pleasures as the New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys kicked off the show.

Here come the eliminations, starting with Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas as well as Romeo and Chelsie.  They were the top scoring teams last night.  Romeo and Chelsie Hightower are safe.  Chelsie Kane and Mark are also safe.

Next we got to see an encore presentation of Kendra and Louis' dance from last night.  Then an interview with Ralph and Karina.  They talked about their mishap from last night and how they recovered from it.

Up for elimination next are Hines and Kym as well as Kirstie and Maks.  They love putting Maks in jeopardy to see his facial reaction.  As expected, Hines and Kym are safe and in a surprise, Kirstie and Maks are also safe.

The Macy's Stars of Dance this week does a take on the upcoming Royal Wedding.

More New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys.

Next up is Pia Toscano singing with her boyfriend Mark Ballas and Karina dancing.  She does have a nice voice.

The bottom three evidently is Chris Jericho, Kendra and Ralph.

One of these couples is safe.  It will be Kendra and Louis.

That leaves either Chris of Ralph heading home.

The votes have been counted, the judge's scores are registered, it's Chris and Cheryl heading home.  Ralph will dance again next week.

Dancing With The Stars: Season 12 Premiere

Season 12 of Dancing With the Stars begins tonight with a whole new cast of wannabe dancers.

There is no Bristol Palin or Kate Gosselin this season, but that doesn't mean much at this point.

American Idol is doing fine this season with new judges and more focus on the contestant's singing.  I hope Dancing With the Stars puts more emphasis on the dancing than all the other tabloid garbage.

Fireworks signaled the season was ready to begin.  Here we go.

First up was Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.  Mark is not only one of the best dancers on the show, he is one of the best teachers.  Chelsea says she doesn't have any dance experience, but Mark is up for the challenge.  Chelsea delivered a strong performance.  She kept up with Mark and didn't make many mistakes.  Chelsea received all 7's for a total of 21.

Next on the floor, Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani.  Wendy has a popular talkshow, but her feet are going to have to the talking in this competition.  Tony was impressed by how hard Wendy worked in practice.  To be honest, she struggled with some of the moves and reminded me a little of Kate Gosselin.  She received two 5's and a 4, for a total of 14.  Not good.

On deck we have Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.  The former University of Georgia football star and current Pittsburgh Steeler has a great partner in Kym.  He starts out with the Cha Cha Cha, a tough dance.  He delivered an inspiring routine that the crowd loved.  Len even said he checked out Hines' bum.  Ouch!  Hines received three 7's for a 21 total.

Next up, Petra Nemcova and her partner Dmitry Chaplin.  Petra is a supermodel that has battled injuries throughout her life.  They start out with a foxtrot.  Their routine was very classy and elegant.  Len says she has to work on her posture, but she did well.  Petra earns three 6's for 18 total.

Next we have Romeo and Chelsie Hightower.  Romeo was supposed to be on back a few season's ago, but twisted his ankle.  He's back this year.  He has some raw talent, and Chelsie has the job of refining it.  Romeo proved he is better than his Dad, Mater P.  He had good energy and good feet, but it was a bit messy.  I think he'll get better.  Romeo received two 6's and a 7 for 19 points.

Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunsakaya are next.  As a boxer he had some moves, as a dancer, he's not sure.  He started out a little stiff, but about half way through he found himself.  The judges were a little rough on Sugar, but he'll be back next week.  He received a 17 total.

Here we go with Playmate Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel.  Louis has worked miracles with other partners in the past, he will do well with Kendra.  He gave her best and it was high energy, but she reminded me of a stripper on steroids.  She needs to clean up her next performance.  She received three 6's for 18 points.

Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff are on next.  He was the Karate Kid 27 years ago.  Now he will need more than karate moves to survive on this show.  They dance a foxtrot and I have to say he was better than i thought he would be.  He received a standing ovation and a whopping 24 from the judges.

On to WWE star Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke.  Chris has been a champion wrester for years.  Chris needs to show off his softer side on the dance floor.  He was a little stiff and a little rough around the edges.  The judges give Chris and Cheryl a 19 out of 30.

Here we have Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer.  Mike spends most of his time in front of a radio mic.  Now he's on the dance floor.  They too dance the foxtrot and it isn't real good.  And what's the deal with Lacey's hair?  The judges tell him he will have to do better next week and they give him a show-low 13.

Last but not least is Kirstie Alley.  Maks has another personality on his hands with Kirstie this season.  They do the Cha Cha.  One good thing for Maks is he doesn't have to worried about getting called for a lift with Kirstie.   She scored a 23 out of 30, and gained a lot of fans.

One more dance next week, then an elimination.
