50,000 Packer Fans Celebrate With Team

Fifty thousand Green Bay Packers fans packed a frigid Lambeau Field on Tuesday to welcome back not only their team, but also the Lombardi trophy.  When the team emerged from the tunnel these fans didn't care how cold it was.

Coach Mike McCarthy was among the last to walk out of the players' tunnel, holding high the gleaming silver trophy as fans screamed "Go Pack Go!" Those closest to the railing reached down from the stands to touch the coveted Super Bowl prize.

Dignitaries on hand included the Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker and Sen. Herb Kohl.

McCarthy thanked the fans for their support.

"You just keep bringing that passion and energy and we'll keep bringing the trophies home," McCarthy said. The fans roared their approval.

Monday's Sports Page Covers

I love looking at newpaper covers the day after a big event happens.

Here is Monday's cover of Racine Journal Times from Racine, WI.  They covered something called the Packers winning the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLV Breaks Viewership Record

- 90% of the televisions in Milwaukee were watching the game

A WHOPPING 111 million viewers tuned in to watch the Green Packers' victory in Super Bowl XLV, a new ratings record, according to Nielsen Co. figures.

The staggering ratings for FOX's covergae clobbered last year's 106.5 million viewership, which was itself a new record. The series finale of M*A*S*H, which was the most-watched program ever for nearly three decades, now sits in third place.

Counting those who caught at least part of the Packers' 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Cowboys Stadium, some 162.9 million people watched the game - nearly 10 million more than a year earlier.

It was the fourth consecutive year of record-breaking ratings for the NFL's championship game

Unsurprisingly, viewership was heaviest in Milwaukee - the closest major city to Green Bay measured by Nielsen - and Pittsburgh. In those cities, nearly 90 percent of televisions turned on during the game were tuned in to the match-up.

Packer Fans Celebrate a Victory

For good reason, Green Bay Packer fans were celebrating into the early hours of Monday morning.

Green Bay is planning a big celebration.  A motorcade Monday afternoon. A celebration at Lambeau Field on Tuesday.

There will be so many celebrations, the players will be sick of it at some point.
