Kindle Free Pick of the Week: Compromising Positions

This Jenna Bayley-Burke looks like a fun read.

It also remains #1 on the Kindle free book list.  Here are a couple reviews:

With sensual love scenes, flirty repartee, and a man and woman clearly meant to be together, you get everything you could ever want in a romance novel. Overall, I have to say that Compromising Positions is a must read!
~ Long and Short Reviews

Compromising Positions would have to be one of the best contemporary romance novels I have read in a long time. Jenna Bayley-Burke delivers it all, romance, humor, and great chemistry between her hero and heroine. It is so well written. The pace is great, and the story line fantastic.

Check Out Jupiter this Week

Catch Jupiter this week in the night sky. It won't be that big or bright again until 2022. Jupiter will pass 368 million miles from Earth late Monday, its closest approach since 1963. You can see it low in the east around dusk. Around midnight, it will be directly overhead. That's because Earth will be passing between Jupiter and the sun, into the wee hours of Tuesday.

The solar system's largest planet already appears as an incredibly bright star — three times brighter than the brightest star in the sky, Sirius. The only thing brighter in the night sky right now is our moon. Binoculars and telescopes will dramatically improve the view as Jupiter, along with its many moons, rises in the east as the sun sets.

"Jupiter is so bright right now, you don't need a sky map to find it," said Tony Phillips, a California astronomer under contract with NASA. "You just walk outside and see it. It's so eye-catching, there it is."

Phillips urges stargazers not to give up if it's cloudy Monday night. Jupiter will remain relatively close for many weeks, he noted, providing good viewing opportunities for some time. And for those who are early risers instead of night owls, Jupiter will be visible setting in the west just before sunrise.

Cowboys Start Season 0-2

After a loss to the Chicago Bears, the Dallas Cowboys are left wondering when they will get their first win.

The preseason talk of becoming the first team to play in a Super Bowl hosted at their own stadium has been reduced to the most elementary goal of all: just win one game.

The Cowboys gave the Bears three turnovers, including two interceptions off quarterback Tony Romo. They had a chance to tie the game 20-20 midway through the fourth quarter, but unproven kicker David Buehler badly missed from 44 yards out. According to the Elias Sports Bureau only 10 percent of the teams who started 0-2 in the Super Bowl era have made the playoffs. That includes the 1993 Cowboys who started 0-2 and finished as Super Bowl champs.

If they go 0-3, they should know that only three 0-3 teams have rebounded to make the playoffs makes next Sunday’s in-state showdown at the Houston Texans a must win. The whole team will have to play better to avoid going 0-3.

It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Thanks to Ol' Chumbucket and Cap'n Slappy, we have International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

The holiday was formed in 1995, it was proclaimed that 19th September each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.

The holiday started as a joke, but gained steam in 2002 when columnist Dave Berry publicized it.  It gets bigger and bigger every year and we celebrate it today.

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day!
