The New Miss USA is a 'Star Wars' Fangirl

Not only is she hot, but would you believe the newly crowned Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella is a Star Wars fanatic?

She says her father got her hooked on the seies at an early age.

Here is a video as proof.  Pay attention to the trivia questions she answers uncoached.  Yea, she does kind of botch the R5-D4 answer at the end, but she was being rushed for time.

Wimbledon Day 4 Match of the Day: Ferrer vs. Harrison

I can't wait for the Court 2 encounter between David Ferrer and upstart Ryan Harrison.  Harrison is America's next best tennis hope and his game translates well to the grass courts of the All England Club.

Ferrer is a wiley veteran who is competent on grass, but not spectacular.

It's interesting to note that Harrison only got into the tournament at the last minute when fellow American Robert Kendrick pulled out.  Harrison last week lost in the final round of qualifying.  This works to Harrison's advantage, he's playing with house money and under virtually no pressure.

I like Harrison in this spot, with his big serve and on the grass.  Of note, Ferrer won't give an inch and will play with all he has.

I still like Harrison to win a tough 4-setter.

Go Ryan!

Wimbledon Day 3 Match of the Day: Date-Krumm vs. V. Williams

Two of the elder-statesmen of the WTA Tour battle on Centre Court Wednesday.

Venus Williams and the 40-year old Kimiko Date-Krumm.  Is it correct that these two have never played before?  One thing for sure is Date-Krumm isn't an easy out for anyone these days.

Look for Venus to try hitting Date-Krumm of the court, but Date-Krumm will use all of her resources to take it to 3 sets.

Venus will have a little too much in the end.

Prediction: Venus 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Wimbledon Day 2 Match of the Day: Stepanek vs. Verdasco

Ok, I know what you're thinking.  The match of the day was going to be Isner and Mahut.  No, that would've been too easy.  It may be a great match, but I like the Radek Stepanek / Fernando Verdasco showdown.

This will be a Court 2 tussle and what you are sure to see id Stepanek charging into the net and Verdasco busting serves and forehands trying to pass Stepanek.

These two played on grass here at Wimbledon back in 2006 and it was a brutal 5-setter with Stepanek coming out on top.

I think it will go five again this time, and the Spaniard will be victorious.

Look for a 8-6 5th set to Verdasco.

Tropical Storm Beatriz Could Become Hurricane

Tropical Storm Beatriz, the second named storm of the Pacific hurricane season, gathered strength off Mexico's Pacific Coast on Sunday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

A hurricane warning was in effect for the Mexican coast from Zihuatanejo westward to Manzanillo, and a watch was in effect from Manzanillo westward to La Fortuna, the National Hurricane Center said in its 11 p.m. PDT (0600 GMT on Monday) report.

The center of Beatriz was expected to approach the coast within the hurricane warning area by late Monday or early Tuesday, the center said.

Beatriz was 160 miles southwest of Zihuatanejo and headed west-northwest at 12 mph (19 kph) with maximum sustained winds of near 55 mph.

Mexico has no oil installations in the Pacific but its coast is dotted with beach resorts popular with U.S. tourists.
