Week 12: NFL Play of the Week

The Cleveland Browns.

One of the pleasant surprises of the NFL season has been the play and resurgence of the Cleveland Browns.  This much improved team is looking to finish the season strongly, have a good draft and make a playoff run in 2011.

The Browns are my play this week.  I didn't think I'd ever be ready to jump on the Browns when they are favored by 9.5 to 10 pts.

They are this week, at home against a terrible Carolina team.

The Browns are 5-0 ATS against teams with losing records.  This is all you need to know, the Browns now led by Mike Holmgren in the front office beat teams that they should beat, and cover.

Go with the Browns today.

Bonus play:  Eagles vs. Bears  - Over 42.5.

Thanksgiving Football Plays of the Day

A trio of NFL games to watch on Thanksgiving Day and some good plays. Here are my picks and there are no turkeys in the bunch.

Game 1: New England at Detroit. The Patriots are giving the Lions 7 points. In past years, this would be a no-brainer, you would take the Lions because they always played well on Turkey Day. Don't make that mistake this year. The Pats are the play, they have too much on the line to not blitz the Lions. Brady will be fine. Take the Pats big.

Game 2: New Orleans at Dallas. This is the third game of the Jason Garrett era in Dallas, and it will be his toughest test. Dallas is getting 4 points at home, and that should be enough. I see the Saints winning by a last second field goal. Dallas will cover.

Game 3: Cincinnati at New York Jets. What is going on in Cincinnati? I don't know, and it's starting to implode. The Jets are favored by 9. They play close games, but this won't be one of them The only question is whether Rex Ryan will eat before or after this night game. I guess he will eat before and after. A big feast in the Ryan household. Take the Jets in a blowout.

Week 11: NFL Play of the Week

The New England Patriots

The Patriots take on a battered Colts team at 4:15 today.  The Colts have been decimated by injuries and the Patriots may be finally hitting their stride.

The Pats are only giving up 4 at home where they are 7-1 ATS in their last eight when favored by 3.5-10.

There are some strong trends favoring the underdog in this series, but not when one of the teams isn't nearly at full-strength.  The Patriots will will by at least 9.

Bonus Pick -Sunday Night Football - Giants at Eagles.  The Eagles are only giving up 3.5 at home and they are on a roll.  Take the Eagles, and "Take it Easy."

Week 10: NFL Plays of the Week

An important Sunday of football on tap.  Two great plays for the day.  The Titans and the Colts.

The Titans are on the road at Miami.  Miami has been having trouble putting points on the board.  Randy Moss makes his debut for Tennessee and look for hime to catch at least one touchdown.

The Titans are giving the Dolphins 1 pt.  I see an 10-point Titan win.

Another game...

I love Indianapolis over Cincinnati in Indy today.  The Colts are favored by 7, it should be more.  The Bengals have underachieved all season long.  The Colts are 3-0-1 in their last four games ATS.  Also they are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games when favored by 3.5-10 pts.  Look for P. Manning to put up some nice numbers today.  Colts win going away.

Week 9: NFL Play of the Week

How about a stout NFC South matchup?

It's Tampa Bay and Atlanta today in the Georgia Dome.  Tampa has been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL as we hit the half-way point of the season.  Atlanta is tough at home.  Both teams are led by young quarterbacks and head coaches that demand a lot out of their players.  In some aspects I like Josn Freeman better than Matt Ryan.

Atlanta is favored by 8.5 or 9 depending on where you are.  I like the Bucs to stay within a touchdown.  I don't think Atlanta will take Tampa lightly, I think the Bucs are a very solid young team.  Should be a good game.  Take the Bucs and the points.

Also like the OVER in the Colts / Eagles game.  Go over the 47.
