College Bowl Play of the Day: BCS Championship Game

Oregon vs. Auburn

This is what it all comes down to, Oregon and Auburn for the BCS Championship.

The teams are undefeated, Cam Newton has been the most talked about player in college football this season and won the Heisman Trophy. Auburn has several factors working in its favor.  The SEC hasn’t – in six tries - lost a BCS title when it has sent one of its teams to the big game. The conference has also covered the number in each of those games.  The Tigers are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.    They also are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite.  Strong trends.

Oregon has some favorable trends as well, but with the line only being Auburn -1.5 I have to say "War Eagle" this time.

Oregon is a fine team and an exciting team to watch.  I look for a good game for about a half then Auburn pulls away.  Take Auburn.

NFL Wildcard Sunday Play of the Day:  Ravens

It's the Raven and the upstart Chiefs today at 1.

The Ravens are favored by 3 at Kansas City, but I still like like Baltimore.

The Chiefs have had a great season but they rely on a running attack that the Ravens shoul be able to shut down.

Joe Flacco and Baltimore are in the postseason for the third consecutive year. Aside from a Week 2 defeat to Cincinnati, the Ravens’ other losses were to New England, Atlanta and Pittsburgh – teams that sport a collective 39-9 record.

The teams have played just twice in the past five seasons, with Baltimore winning both. Flacco threw for 307 yards and three TDs as the Ravens beat visiting Kansas City (minus an injured Cassel) 48-24 in the 2009 season opener.

Another note is the Chiefs are 7-1 at home this season, but the Ravens counter that by being 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games.

Take the Ravens and give the 3 today.

NFL Wildcard Saturday Play of the Day: Seahawks

I am not crazy, I am not on drugs, but I love the Seahawks in today's NFL action.

The Saints are the better team and will win the game, but the Seahawks are getting 10 pts at home in a playoff game.

I have to say take the Seahawks and the points.  The only trend favoring Seattle is they are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in January.  You can throw that out since that was a while ago and this is a totally different team.  Sometime you just have to go with your gut and the fact that they are getting 10 pts.

Take Seattle today.

New Years Day Bowl Plays of the Day: Florida and Wisconsin

New Years Day is traditionally the biggest college bowl day of the year.  It's a day to get comfortable infront of the television, eat some junk food and watch a day-long marathon of football.

Two picks today:

Outback Bowl - Florida

Florida, in Urban Meyer's last game as head coach is only giving Penn St. and Joe Paterno 7 pts.  I see the Gators in a blowout.  Both teams are 7-5 and are looking to go out winners on this season.  Florida is  4-1 ATS in their last 5 bowl games with Meyer at the helm.

Look for Meyer to go out as a big winner in the Outback Bowl.  Take the Gators -7.

The Rose Bowl - Wisconsin

Should be a good Rose Bowl here.  12-0 TCU and 11-1 Wisconsin.

To say Wisconsin has been dominating teams is an understatement.  To close out the regular season, they scored 70 against Northwestern and before that they scored 83 vs. Indiana.  They are rolling and TCU is going to have to work hard to stop them.

TCU is no slouch, especially on defense.  But the Badgers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win and are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.  Strong trends for Wisco along with the fact they play well against teams that are good, going 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

The Horned Frogs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games, so the play would be takeWisconsin and the 3 pts.  Wisconsin will probably even win the game.

Enjoy the games today.

Packers/Bears Line Holding at Pack -10

Even though more and more info is coming out that the Bears are going to rest starters and players with nagging injuries, the line in the Packers / Bears tilt is holding at Packers -10.

Here's the timeline for the odds for this game out of Vegas.  Notice how the line opened at Pack -5.5 at the Last vegas Hilton.
