Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on Radio 105.7 - February Heart Healthy Month

In addition to Valentine's Day February is Heart Healthy month...

Along with Valentine’s Day, February marks American Heart Month, a great time to commit to a healthy lifestyle and make small changes that can lead to a lifetime of heart health.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women.1 While Americans of all backgrounds can be at risk for heart disease, African American men, especially those who live in the southeast region of the United States, are at the highest risk for heart disease

Rick and Sully look at some gadgets and tech that fit in with February being Heart Healthy month... have a listen:

1. Kardia Mobile

www.alivecor.com

Kardia Mobile is FDA-approved fingertip sensor device that attaches to your mobile phone, and EKG readings can be sent instantly to both physicians and loved ones. With Heart Healthy Month and Valentine’s Day, approaching, this could help prevent a heart-related emergency. Most people are touched in some way by heart disease, and a story on Kardia Mobile could offer a great opportunity to help inform them about the importance and ease of getting a mobile EKG reading. Smaller than a credit card, Kardia allows you to capture a medical-grade EKG in just 30-seconds from anywhere, anytime. All for $99.

2. Koogeek Smart Health Scale
www.koogeek.com

Accurately measure body composition and health data with the Koogeek Smart Health Scale. With four sensors and BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) technology, Koogeek Smart Health Scale accurately measures your weight, BMI (Body Mass Index), body fat mass, lean mass, bone mass, total body water, BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and visceral fat. All measurements easily automatically sync and upload to the Koogeek app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 4.0. Koogeek has designed this scale with a polished ITO tempered glass surface and a blue LED display, the scale is durable for everyday use. In addition, special oval corners protect the safety of both you and your family. A great buy for about $40.

3. Sports Tracker App and Heart Rate Belt
www.sports-tracker.com

Combine a new app with accessories like a Heart Rate Belt and you have the Sports Tracker platform. This is an award-winning application and online service developed by a passionate team of mobile experts and outdoor enthusiasts– as well as by users worldwide in more than 200 countries. Put your phone in your pocket, armband or bike-mount, and and add the Sports Tracker Heart Rate belt so you’re ready to hit the road to collect and share data. At CES in January, Sports Tracker had three Olympic Gold Medal winners in Brianna Rollins (Hurdles), David Boudia (Diving) and Kaitlyn Farrington (Snowboarding) there to demo the product. The app uses your phone’s internal GPS to track your route, time, distance and speed. It's not just for running or walking, but also while playing or participating in dozens of sports and activities. Heart Rate belt is $85 and the app is free.

5.  HelloTech

www.hellotech.com

HelloTech -- a leading on-demand, in-home technology support startup -- specializes in TV mounting and installation, and has compiled tips to avoid the “Top 5 Most Common TV Mounting Fails” just in time for next week’s game. These tips are foolproof in guiding your readers in optimizing their TV viewing parties while also helping them reduce stress when preparing their surround sound, streaming and more.

FAIL #1: Choosing the Wrong Mount
Before anything else, you need to choose the TV mount right for you. Most important of all, double check the load-bearing capacity of the mount. One that supports 33 pounds is only good for small 15-inch TVs, not for your 55-inch smart TV. HelloTech urges you to choose wisely because watching your expensive television falling and shattering right in the middle of your Super Bowl party would be rather embarrassing (not to mention gut-wrenching).

FAIL #2: Thinking You Can Go It Alone
TV mounting is a two-person job they are wide and heavy and  can hit 50 lbs! That's why HelloTech recommends that at least one person helps you out. An extra pair of hands will certainly be needed to lift and hold brackets in place while you figure out which screws go where.

FAIL #3: Ignoring Those Wall Studs
HelloTech recommends that you be extra sure that you have indeed found the right studs before you start drilling. That way, you don’t have to suffer through having any wrong holes repaired. Additionally, make sure you use the right drill bit. Otherwise, the drilled holes might just be too small or too big for the screws.

FAIL #4: Hammering Near the TV
If during the installation process you need to hammer nails, don’t do so until you have transferred the TV to somewhere safe. This precaution is necessary because any nail that slips from your fingers could hit the TV screen, rendering it useless.

FAIL #5: Buying the Wrong Cables and Wires
HelloTech advises that you carefully plan where all of the cables will go so that they won’t look cluttered and won’t be peeking from behind the TV. Unfortunately, some people can take the organizing too far, so they end up with cables not reaching their intended ports if this happens, never force the cables. Don’t try to bend the TV just to make things connect. These actions can damage  the screen, the ports, the cables, or the wall.

 Enjoy the game!

The speaker has a battery life of about ten hours and when it is running low on power, it automatically descends onto its "levitation station" where it will recharge wirelessly without any intervention from the listener. As an added bonus, it also complies with the IPX7 norm, meaning that it will not be damaged by dust or immersion in water at depths of less than a meter, which makes it useful both indoors and outdoors.

LG has yet to communicate either the availability or the price tag for this surprising product.
