Dancing With the Stars: American Night

It's Patriot's Day so that means an All-American theme tonite.  Not sure what songs we will hear but the dances will be a foxtrot and what's more American than the Viennese Waltz.  Add a little Samba in and it should be an interesting night.

Questions I have for tonight include what disaster will fall upon Kirstie Alley and will Kendra be pouting again after she gets some low scores.  Ralph and Chelsea are the favorites in my estimation.

Let the dances begin.

First up this evening, Ralph Macchio and Karina.  They get the Samba to "Sweet Home Alabama."  It was kind of a western themed Samba.  Ralph kept up well and it was a tough routine.  I'm a little worried, Bruno told Ralph to get his loins going and to give him sex."  The received a 22 out of 30 for their score.

Second up is Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke.  Chris is Canadian, but he's ready for American night.  Len has been tough on Chris, but he wants to Len he can waltz.  Dancing to "America the Beautiful" was kind of different.  They did it well and even a little pyro at the end.  Len still says he needs to improve his footwork.  A great score of 26 for Chris.

Next up, Petra and Dmitry.  They will be dancing to Elvis and "Viva Las Vegas."  Good music and a nice quickstep.  The judges pointed out a few missed steps, but overall good remarks.  The scores were two 7's and an 8.  A total of 22.

Here comes Romeo and Chelsie.  He's been in the middle of the pack each week.  He's working hard and wants to move up to the top.  They dance a foxtrot in very formal attire.  A tough routine and very classy.  The judges agree and give Romeo a 26 out of 30.

Next we have Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.  Being an athlete has really helped Hines so far.  They do a rumba, but they say it's going to be romantic.  I'm not what I think of Hines in that sailor outfit, but I'm sure a certain segment of the male population like it.  He makes it look easy and it was a good dance.  Len thought it was his best dance, they get a 27.

Here we go with Kirstie and Maks.  What could possibly go wrong this week.  They got some coaching this week from John Travolta.  They get a foxtrot and dance to "American Woman."  It was a crazy and fun dance.  Bruno thought it was hot.  They get a 23 for a nice score.

Next is Kendra and Louis.  Carrie Ann has been hard on Kendra, but they are trying to help her.  Kendra needs a big score this week to advance.  This happens to be the 1,000th competitive dance in the history of the show.  They get a foxtrot.  It was better than last week, and entertaining.  The judges give them a 22.

Lastly tonight is Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.  She was the leader last week.  This week they dance to Miley Cyrus.  Another high energy dance.  The crowd loved it, the judges loved it.  They get a 26.

Results show tomorrow with Toby Keith.

Dancing With the Stars: From Charlie Brown to Charlie Sheen on Classical Night

This will be the fourth week of dances for our couples and hopefully we will have some questions answered tonight.

Will Karina keep her clothes on?

Will Pia Toscano, the most recently eliminated contestant from American Idol be there cheering on her new boyfriend, Mark Ballas?

Will Kirstie and Maks get penalized for a lift if Kirstie lifts Maks?

All that and some dancing tonight on DWTS.

Classical Week means the orchestra is larger and so are the stakes.

The pros had to work harder this week getting the routine just right with the orchestra and the beautiful classical music.

First up is Chelsie Hightower and Romeo.  Chelsie wants an all out aggressive performance from Romeo, he wants just to make it through the routine without screwing up.  A very dramatic and passionate performance and the crowd liked it.  The judges gave them a 23, including Carrie Ann taking a point away for a lift.

Now on to Louis and Kendra.  Kendra needs to show some improvment this week.  Is the Vienese Waltz just what the doctor ordered?  Louis had Kendra going at a pretty good pace this week.  With Katherine Jenkins singing, Kendra had a hard time with the routine, but didn't seem upset.  Carrie Ann said she lacked elegence and her scores reflected it with an 18 out of 30.

Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna are up next.  Big improvement for Sugar Ray last week.  The fans and judges loved him.  This week, Sugar Ray took a ballet class to prepare for his Vienese Waltz.  He had a great time with Anna, and the judges couldn't stop smiling as well.  Great entertainment and a 21 out of 30.

Next up is Team Dmitra: Dmitry and Petra.  Petra was great last week, this week a new challenge for Petra.  They attempt a Paso this week and Dmitry wants to see aggression.  She was aggressive and they both had a lot of fun.  he judges rewarded the pair with a 23.

Ralph and Karina are up next.  Last week, Ralph slipped a little.  He is aiming to return to the top of the leaderboard.  A nice routine and great teamwork.  Bruno loved it, Carrie Ann believed in it, and Len said it was great to have Ralph back.  Ralph receives a 25.

Here comes Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.  Hines had a great week last week, this week he tries his hand at the Paso.  Hines came out like a rocket.  There was pyro, there were leg kicks, and lighting that looked like lasers.  The dance was just as impressive.  Hines was in the zone and I'm not talking about the red zone.  He received a 25.

Next up is Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.  Chelsea is worried about dancing to classical music.  They danced to a song from Harry Potter.  Bruno loved it, Len didn't think it was traditional enough.  They get a 26 and jump into the lead.

Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke are next.  He's beaten The Rock, he's beaten John Cena, this week he takes on the Paso Doble.  It was a tough dance, but he did a good job.  Len wished he would've kept up with the music a little better, he gets a 23.

Last but not least is Kirstie and Maks.  They are trying to recover from the fall of last week.  Kirstie is trying hard to be a good dancer, but her hip injury is keeping her from practicing and hindering her routine.  Big props to Kirstie for getting through the dance.  Very elegant and she recovered well fro her shoe almost coming off.  She earns a 22.

Results show tomorrow night.

Dancing With the Stars Results: Mike Needs a "Love Line"

The producers of Dancing With the Stars have done it again.  If it wasn't enough to have the first results show of the season tonight, singer/dancer/abuser/tempermental Chris Brown has been booked to appear on the show.

This, in my estimation is quite unusual for DWTS.  It prides itself on being family entertainment and the majority of its viewers are women, so having Chris Brown appear is either 1) a publicity stunt, 2) someone blew it by booking him, or 3)someone owed a favor to another party and this is the payback.
I'm interested to see how the unflappable Tom Bergeron handles the situation.  He has already said on Twitter that he won't hold back on what he would ask Brown, so Bergeron may be off camera when Brown is being introduced etc.

Well enough about that, there is an actual show tonight.

Let's get started with some results.  Our three athletes are first up.

After two weeks of voting and judge's marks, Hines Ward is safe.  Also coming back is Chris Jericho.  A big improvement from week 1 to week 2 for Chris.  Sugar Ray is currently in jeopardy.

Chris Brown is up next and he received a good amount of applause.  I just don't get it, or him.

I guess he was ok.

On to more results.

Kirstie Alley and Maks have been the surprise of season 12 for me so far.  Chelsea Kane shows a lot of potential, and Ralph Macchio is the fan favorite.  The next couple safe is Ralph and Karina.  Kirstie and Maks are also safe.  Chelsea and Mark are also safe.

After introducing and watching the new dance troupe, the results continue.  with Romeo and Mike Catherwood.  Not a surprise, Romeo and Chelsie are safe.  Mike and Lacey are in jeopardy.

Next, more Chris Brown.  Notice how Tom Bergeron didn't even want to say his name.  He called him "our special guest."

Three women are still waiting for their results.  Petra, Wendy, and Kendra are up now.  Moving to next week are Kendra and Petra.  Wendy Williams is in jeopardy.

Sugar Ray, Mike and Wendy are on notice.  Being brought to safety is Wendy and Tony.  Also safe is Sugar Ray and Anna.  Mike and Lacey are done.

Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley Lead 'Dancing With the Stars'

"Dancing With the Stars" kicked off Season 12 on Monday Night with a huge television audience and a new group of celebrity dancers.

Ralph Macchio, of "Karate Kid" fame, garnered the evening high in points – 24 – egged on perhaps by wildly screaming females of all ages.

The 49-year-old’s foxtrot left the judges with their mouths agape. "What an amazing surprise," voiced Carrie Ann Inaba, adding she was shocked "that you had such elegance."

60-year old Kirstie Alley, earned 23 points with her cha cha. "The best of the night," declared an enthusiastic Bruno Tonioli. "I feel like we’re just scratching the surface," he added.

Alley really played to the crowd with her slapping her own butt and giving one of her breasts, a lift.
