Julianne Hough Returns to Dancing With the Stars

One of the most popular pros in the history of Dancing With the Stars returns tonight, although it will be for just one show.

Julianne Hough returns to ballroom to promote her new movie, Footloose.  I've seen the movie already and it's good and she's good in it.

Here's a clip from Julianne when she was partners with Apolo Anton Ohno.

Dancing With the Stars: "Movie Theme Week" Hits the Ballroom

This promises to be a great week on Dancing With the Stars.  We are at the point in the competition where the contenders usually start separating themselves from the pack.

The couples will be dancing to movie themes this week, so there are a lot of songs to choose from and song selection is very important.  But ultimately it's about the dancing, so we'll see who keeps improving this week.

The show started this week with a routine choreographed and performed by the troupe and pros.  After a medley of songs, we get the competition rolling.

First up are Chynna and Tony.  They dance to the theme from Mission Impossible.  It's a tango and Tony entered from the ceiling.  A little different and an ok effort.  A few missteps and problems during the routine.  Chynna gets a 21, and might be in jeopardy tomorrow.

On to David Arquette and Kym Johnson.  David showed improvement last week and he hope it carries over to this week.  They get a paso doble to the theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark.  David tried hard to hold his nerves in place to finish the dance.  He did and turned in a good performance.  Len was a bit rough on David, but the other judges defended him.  David gets a 23.

Moving along to the always unpredictable duo of Carson and Anna.  They dance to a "Pirates" song.  A nice waltz complete with props and sword fighting.  I don't know if this routine was really good, or really bad.  Bruno said it's an idea for Pirates V: Revenge of the Gay Blade.   They get a 20, and the hook from Len.

Nancy Grace up next dancing to a song from Flash Gordon.  Tristan wants Nancy to work even harder and harder this week.  Nancy feels aggression will help her in the paso.  Lots of pyro and flash to this dance, but the technique and expression were lacking.  Nancy gets a 21.

Hope and Maks up next.  They dance to a song from Toy Story.  Max is a tough teacher and he was rough on Hope this week, will it pay off?  A nice, cute dance.  Jessie and Woody back together again.  The judges all have high expectations for Hope.  She gets a 24.  Top score of the night so far.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl up next with a Superman themed dance.  He's been working harder and Cheryl says it is paying off.  A good paso, and good comments from the judges.  Rob gets a 24.

A tango is up next with Ricki Lake and Derek Hough.  They are going psycho, as in the theme to Psycho.  This was a tough dance for Ricki and Derek.  Lots of moves and tough music to dance to.  They went all out and told the story of the dance and the crowd loved it.  The judges loved it as well and Ricki vaults to the top of the leaderboard with a 29.

Here we go again with Chaz and Lacey.  They will dance to Rocky.  Chaz keeps advancing even though his body is giving out.  It was a little strange, but i guess it had to be.  Cher loved it, the judges had some good things to say, and they got a 21.

J.R. Martinez and Karina finish off the night.  He gives performances that are emotional and passionate.  They dance to the theme to The Pink Panther.  They worked hard again this week in seach of dancing perfection.  Carrie Ann thought it was ok, Len liked it, and Bruno liked the humor in the dance. They get a 26.

Tomorrow night, Susan Boyle, Julianne Hough and Footloose.

Dancing With the Stars Week 3 Results: The Jay Cutler Effect

If everyone has recovered from last night's emotional looks back at memorable years, there will be a results show tonight and another dancer will be eliminated.

I'm sure it won't be J.R. Martinez as he and Karina captured everyone's attentions, not only with his dancing, but with his moving story.  I don't think it will be Chynna Phillips and Derek Hough as they executed another great routine.

Mary J. Blige got the show off to a fast start tonight.  Also some great Latin dancing to go along with it.

Some results right away tonight.  Up for eliminations are Chaz and Lacey, Ricki and Derek, and J.R. and Karina.  The first couple safe tonight is J.R.and Karina.  Also safe is Ricki and Derek.  Chaz and Lacey are safe as well, in a surprise.  What a surprise.

The encore dance tonight was Chynna and Tony.  Once again a nice job, this couple may be the favorite at this stage of the competition.

More eliminations coming fast and furious.  This one includes Nancy and Tristan, Hope and Maks and Carson and Anna along with Rob and Cheryl.  Will Carson make it through after he showed big improvement?

The next couple safe is Rob and Cheryl.  Carson and Anna are in jeopardy.  Nancy and Tristan are safe as well.  Hope and Maks are in jeopardy.

Next week, the cast will be dancing to movie themes, so the troupe along with Peta and Val danced to a song from Gone With the Wind.

Next a rendition of Chubby Checker's Twist.  A special appearance by Chubby Checker himself.  He still can move.  Len even got out on the floor to do a little twist.

After more Mary J.Blige we see Chynna and Tony, David and Kym, and Kristin and Mark.  Coming back next wee is Chynna and Tony.  David and Kym are also coming back.  Kristin and Mark are in jeopardy.

One couple now will brought to safe ground.  That would be Carson and Anna.  So a bit of a surprise this evening.  Leaving the show this week is the team of Kristin and Mark.  Hope and Maks will dance again.
Movie themes next week.

I have to believe Jay Cutler showing up didn't help Kristin Cavallari.

Dancing With the Stars Week 3: Blondes, Sweat, and Tears

Another live performance show and this week the couples get personal.  We learn a little more about our stars as they dance to a song from a memorable year in their life.

It should be emotional, it should be uplifting.  Tonight Liiiiiiiiiiivvvvveeeeeeeee!

First up tonight, Rob Kardashian and Cheryl.  Rob picked  a song from 2003, the year his father died.  He's dancing the foxtrot and is honoring his dad.  A nice foxtrot and his did his dad proud.  He's improving each and every week.  The judges agreed and he gets a 24.

Can Chynna Phillips keep impressing?  We find out now as Chynna and Tony take the stage.  She looks back at 1990 and the songs she wrote.  She dances to her own song, "Hold On."  Tony and Chynna were really into it.  A very passionate rumba.  The judges and audience loved it and of course, the personal connection to the music.  She gets a 26.

Chaz and Lacey are up next.  He was at the bottom of the standings last week, he looks to rebound.  They get a rumba so Chaz might've caught a break.  Chaz will dance to a Sonny Bono hit, "Laugh at Me."  Chaz didn't look good and the dance wasn't that great either.  The judges appreciated Chaz's courage but were fairly nice to him.  He gets a 18.

Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas next.  The judges were hard on Kristin last week.   She picks 2005 as her most memorable year.  They get a samba this week and dance to a Beyonce song.  It appeared she was a little off the entire dance.  Maybe it was because Jay Cutler was in the audience.  She gets a 24 and Jay Cutler avoids another sack, for now.

Carson and Anna are next on the stage.  Carson isn't a great dancer, but he's having fun.  They get a tango and will dance to a No Doubt song.  Carson may not be a greta dancer, but he has the head snaps and leg kicks down.  Bruno loved it, Carrie Ann loves him, and Len said he put the boy in flamboyant.  He gets a 23.

No story is more personal that J.R. Martinez's.  He's an inspiration to every American.  He was injured in Iraq and faced a long recovery.  He dances to a Tim McGraw song and he dedicates it to the men and women who didn't make it home from war.  He does a great job again.  He received multiple standing ovations and a 26 out of 30.

Nancy Grace is on next.  2007 was her memorable year.  She dances to "Moon River."  Tristan does a good job with Nancy, but something look awkward.  The judges were fairly kind.  She gets a 21.

Up next are Ricki Lake and Derek Hough.  Ricki's memorable year was last year.  She got divorced and her house burned down, but she met Christian.  An emotional and beautiful dance.  The judges like her because she is a performer.  A great dance.  Ricki gets a 27.

Hope Solo and Maks take the floor.  Her memorable year is this year.  The U.S. Women's Soccer team made the finals of the World Cup.  They dance a cha cha.  A very sexy dance and Hope is in a skimpy dress.  High energy and good comments from the judges.  She gets a 24.

Last tonight is David Arquette and Kym Johnson.  David was in the bottom two last week, so  he needs to improve his technique.  They dance a rumba this week.  A much better effort from David.  David and Kym get a 24.
